SOURCE: Loud Squeaking Noise kenmore gas dryer 80 series

You need to change your drum rollers. To get to them you take the dryer apart from the front not the back. There are 2 screws where the filter goes in on top. Then pull the top toward you and up. Then remove the 2 - 5/16 inch screws on each side of the front panel about 2 to 3 inches down. Then pull the front up and out. Then you will see everything. Replace the belt, drum rollers, and idler making sure to oil each as you re-install them. Then put back together and your on your way.

Duet dryer is making a humming noise when cycle starts a d during

whenever i hear a humming sound in a dryer it's usually the motor or something caught in the blower wheel stopping the motor from spinning.open the door and see if you can spin the drum.if it spins by hand try this, open the door, push in the door switch with one hand, have someone push the start button while you hold in the door switch and spin the drum by hand helping it move,if it runs you have a bad motor,if it doesn't remove the bottom panel and see if the belt is broke and stuck in the motor but like i say usually it has something to do with the motor not spinning.hope this helps

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Not all will apply to every dryer. Check our video page for more style dryers.

Rollers

Many dryers use rollers or wheels to support the clothes drum. When these rollers are worn, they can be noisy. You should replace the whole set of rollers at the same time. You will need to disassemble the dryer to check these. Some dryers use rollers in both the front and rear. Check our videos for other style dryers.

Belt

The Belt should be replaced if you hear any noise coming from it or if there is any cracking, glazing, or grooves worn out. Replace the Belt along with the idler pulley.

Idler pulley

Dryers have a tension or idler pulley that keeps tension on the main drive belt. When it's worn, it can be noisy. When that happens, don't lubricate it. Just replace it.

Glides

Many dryers use nylon or plastic glides at the front of the clothes drum for support. When these are worn, they can be noisy. When that happens, replace the glides and bearing housing if necessary. Put hand inside drum near front and push up there should be no play.

Rear drum bearing

Some dryers support the clothes drum in the rear with a center spindle instead of rollers. The spindle may be a ball-and-socket type support or a shaft through a sleeve. When the components are worn, they may squeak, squeal, or rub. You can't repair them. Just replace the rear bearing when they're worn. Put hand inside drum near rear and push up there should be no play. This video walks thru another type.

Blower wheel

Your dryer's blower wheel pulls air over the heat source, through the clothes drum, and past the thermosta ts, then pushes it out the exhaust duct. The blower wheel, which is usually plastic, may wear out over time. But if it's noisy, it may simply be clogged with lint. Clean the blower and test to see if the dryer is still noisy. If it is, you probably need to replace the blower wheel. Many times the blower wheel is making the noise and it is commonly mistaken for the motor.

Motor

The motor may be making noise. The easy way to check is to remove the belt and turn the dryer on if it is noisy replace the motor.

For past 6 months dryer has been making a noise while drying and when I turn it off sounds like it is still spinning for a second. Now dryer is making a squealing noise as well and not drying the clothes...

Hi,

Sounds like the blower wheel (fan ) is loose on the motor shaft.... that is the spinning you are hearing...
but the fan/blower is not running full speed so it is not moving enough air...

Dryer wont start, makes humming noise and thats all

sounds like you have abad motor, try spinning the drum by hand,if it moves most likely it's the motor,or the belt broke and is jammed in the motor stopping it from spinning,or if it's hard to turn something could be stuck in the blower wheel but it's the motor making the noise.you need to get in there and check it out.the motors are easy to change out on a kenmore dryer, also next time send the model number.let me know what you find

Drum not turning, hear humming noise

the humming noise is from the motor, see if you can spin the drum by hand,if it moves you have a bad motor,if it's hard to turn you could have something stuck in the blower wheel or the belt is jammed somewhere, the blower wheel is behind the duct that the lint filter slides into

Kitchen aid dry motor noise

Try taking it apart again and try to turn the motor by hand. It should spin freely. If it does you've probably got a bad motor. If it is stiff or doesn't turn at all, then you might have missed something putting it back together. I wouldn't think you can overtighten the blower, it is probably something else, and with it apart it should be easy to see.
