i had a similar problem with my pro. the wires would get a heavy white build up that would not come off with the wire cleaner so i had to take the unit apart and clean the wires by hand and that worked for me. you may be able to reach them if you put a Q-tip in the end of a straw.

What is happening is this: the main electrical component is overheating and forcing the machine to turn off. When it cools, the machine turns back on. Yes, that is actually what is causing the blinking.

There is no solution for this as the main electrical component (a high voltage capacitor in this case) has failed due to stress. In my case, the machine worked for 2 months before failing. The only real solution is to have the unit serviced. However, as there is no service centers, we are all out of luck.

I believe this could be a class action law suit against sharper image for selling units built with components it knew would fail after a short period of time. They had hundreds of reports with this same failure and they knew the cause. Pressing the "boost" button too much causes extreme stress on the capacitor and shortens its life drastically. This capacitor is what provides the power to the ionizing wires.

Oh there are a lot of known issues! I used to work for sharper image and I believed in this items very much so until mine broke. However after a year I figured out how to fix it. Take the big square collection grid out and the back screen off. Now get you a thick rag and be very careful because there are several tiny wires going up and down. Smaller than dental floss, you need to be very careful because you can either brake them or slice your finger wide open( Under any circumstances I can not be held liable for the information I am giving you try this at your own risk). Now with the towel very gently go up and down each wire like you are polishing a brass pole(once again these wires are thin and can break or cut you). Do this from the back side of the unit and from the inside where the collection grid that you took out sits. Take your time and be thorough, and presto your 400 dollar air cleaner is working again.

My professional series Ionic breeze GP blows out what seems to be clean air but the purple lights inside it are no longer working. Can anyone tell me where I can find replacement bulbs or just what I need to do to get it working again. I got it as a gift 4 or so years ago. The gift giver says there was a 5 year warranty on it but I am not sure. Any advice would be helpful.

Parts for this unit, including the filter are not on sale anymore, as all Ionic Breezemodels had been retired from commerce because of health and safetyconcerns.

No company will manufacture or distribute parts for this kind of Air Purifier. The units had been retired from commerce.

Sharper Image had been closed down because of the concerns linked to ionic breezer purifier.

Spare parts are not manufactured or distributed anymore.

Regarding your old air purifier, theonly way to find a replacement filter or parts is by finding the same model on Ebayfor spares....If I was in your shoes I would better get rid of your oldSharper Image , and buy a different kind of air purifier.

Who could I send the blade interior section to to replace a broken part?


If you purchased it before 2008, nobody. Sharper image went bankrupt and was bought by another co who does NOT warranty or repair older products. Below is excerpt from their site:

Locate the photo electric eye that picks up the need to clean and give it a thorought cleaning. Good Luck and I hope you get it repaired. That photo cell should be your problem It's probably a little black or ruby red dot in a fin or on the housing where yhe air passes.

The bad news is Sharper Image recalled the units. They got into a legal squabble over the product with Consumer Reports on the unit based on an article they ran. Sharper Image couldn't prove how the unit worked so they lost the suit and had to pay all the legal bills forcing the company into bankruptcy.

Could be a blade replacement needed but Sharper Image recalled the product.  Since it was proven in court that it wasn't effectively cleaning the air by Consumer Reports as well as EPA data.  As a result of the legal action, Sharper Image filed for Chapter 11.

I Am trying to program the sharper image jumbo sized universal tv remote.I can;t get the Samsung dvd/vcr combo to except any code listed in the instruction manual


I can help you with your Sharper Image remote control.

There are two Sharper Image Remote Controls: a Sharper Image Jumbo Touch Remote Manual, and a Sharper Image Jumbo Remote Manual.

The Jumbo Touch remote does have a learn function which may be helpful in controlling your Samsung DVD/VCR combo.

If the warranty you are counting on is a Sharper Image Warranty I need to advise you that it was voided in the buyout on 30 May, 2008 when everything at Sharper Image was liquidated by Hilco Consumer Capital, Gordon Brothers, and Bluestar Alliance. If however it was a warranty company outside of Sharper Image you need to contact them.

You can purchase a bulb for the GP on ebay for under $11, which is really a good price considering what you would have paid from Sharper Image. Installation is easy, you just pull up on the tab on the bottom of the filter and pull up. When you are looking at the bulb, turn it 1/4 turn, (2 clicks) and pull it out. That is all there is to it. Hope this helps you.
