Siemens XLM 1400 Powder drawer stuck shut and can't open

The drawer won't open. I think the conditioner filter is sticking. Is there anyway to get the drawer open without 1) breaking it or 2) having to call an engineer out? Thanks for any help

SOURCE: loads of slimey grey water in filter drawer and horrible smells

First of all, you need to confirm if the leak is from the filter or the pump.
You can replace the filter seperately to the pump.
If you replace the filter, and it still leaks, then you are going to have replace the pump.
I would suggest that that you check and clean if needed the outlet pipe where the water enters the outside waste pipe.
Make sure that you do a boil wash periodically, to ensure that the drum and other internal parts are clean.
Clean the door seal and dry after each wash, it helps to leave the door slightly open
Please leave any comments that may have as regards to my suggestions.
Thankyou.

SOURCE: water coming out of drawer & door

Hi Gary,It sounds to me that you have a blockage within the pressure systemas this is a classic sign. If you take the top off the machine you will see a round switch with a few wires going to it.This is the pressure switch. at the bottom of this switch is a thin pipe, normally black or clear. there is a small spring clip holding this pipe to the switch, If you remove this pipe and gently blow down it you will probably find it is blocked. You will then need to follow this pipe to the bottom of your machine. At the bottom of the machine where this pipe is fitted you will see there is a chamber and it is this chamber likly to be blocked. Some times you may clear this with a small piece of wire by removing the small pipe and poke wire through, but best way is to see how this chamber is removed and remove it for cleaning.Ensure machine is off at mains. this chamber fills with water and causes air pressure within the switch at the top of machine, which in turn tells programe when machine is full and also when empty. If this fails then machine will not turn off water supply as long as it is on. there fore when you reconnect parts ensure they are tight and clips back in place. Good luck and hope this works. Failing this working you may need to call an engineer to check switch and possible fault on board.

SOURCE: Water leak from front powder/conditioner drawer.

Completely remove the dispenser unit. look inside the recess you have just taken the dispenser drawer from and look up. You will find this is covered in muck. Clean it with an old toothbrush or something but do not use too mush pressure. This should solve your problem. If not then you will need to replace the dispenser unit completely

Check the filter at the front of the machine at the base.

There should be a small cover at front of machine at base.

Open this cover and inside you will see a circular cap.

This needs to be unscrewed anti clock wise, it can be stiff if not used before.

remember you will have to catch the water that comes out and pull out any debris inside.

It is possibly blocked or has debris inside.

Remember you will have to catch the water be prepared.

Siemens xlm 1400 will not rinse clothes, it makes noise but the drum will not rotate eventhough it will turn by hand.

your motors drive brushes need replaced

so look to use the model number in EBAY

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xxlm+1400+brushes.TRS0&_nkw=xlm+1400+brushes&_sacat=0

i used the search string
'xlm 1400 brushes'
and they are quite easy to replace..

it may do a whole wash cycle and count down etc just wont spin or move the drum with heavy water laden clothes

goes eeeeeeeheheeheh but no drum rotate

so
you can drain the machine only
lay the machine down with the soap drawer away from the ground
then it wont leak
two screws and one power clip removes the brushes
from the main motor {the one with the belt that drives the drum}
their are two brushes one each side
so 4 screws
and replace both ..
so...

good times

let us know the size of the brushes left

they should be like new 2.5" - 3" long
if they are less then 1.5" replace them

this is the issue

the main advice is not to use it just now
till you check the motor brushes

as this type of fault can further damage the motor

so .. dont use it till you check / replace the brushes as the intermittent contacting will damage the motors stator {the bit the brushes make contact with}

Hi, i have a bosch classixx5 washing machine(1400) , it's going through it's cycles until it tries to drain & then nothing, it won't drain... Please could you offer suggestions & s

You first of all need to check the pump filter. This is located at the bottom front right of washer. Look for a drop down flap or cover, once located, unscrew filter anti-clockwise to remove and clean. Of course be prepared for a lot of water and junk. The pump itself is directly behind the filter housing, check there to see if anything is stuck in the plastic blades. It should turn freely. Your washer door will not open if there is water in the washer, just some kind of precaution, so don't force the door.

Pl click if helped..

Should there be water in the detergent compartment when the washer completes a wash cycle?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Think the whole thing needs a good clean- but pay particular attention to the softener tray ;-0)
--------------------------------------
Remove the complete drawer. To do this you will have to do one of the following-
  • Top catch- push down the lip/catch at the middle rear and pull the drawer out (that's how our Bosch one is removed)
  • release the catches underneath (our daughter's Indesit) or
  • lift upwards on the tray as it is coming out to clear the lip underneath.
Clean the chute down which the powder and conditioner are washed and the whole of the dispenser tray itself. In particular identify which tray is for the conditioner- the others are simply 'chutes' and open-ended. It will normally have some sort of cover over it which you must remove to expose the little stuck up pipe/tube. On some models there is just a small individual cap over the tube. The tube is down which the conditioner and water should siphon. It is likely to be blocked by 'gunge'- a mix of powder and conditioner. The whole of the tray, particularly this pipe and the bit which fits over it, must be completely clean and clear for it to operate correctly. It is worthwhile checking fairly regularly.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Washer does not **** the conditioner away ,and canot undo fillter

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

2 things- conditioner and filter. Conditioner first!

I suspect that it is the conditioner/softener tray which needs a thorough clean,
paying particular attention to the sentences in BOLD ;-0)

If this does not work, pull out the dispenser drawer far enough to be able to just see the softener tray, select the (final?) rinse and check that water is entering the tray. If it isn't there is a fault with the water distribution and an engineer call is required ;-0(
Filter
Had the same problem with our Bosch, cap would not even turn!
Suggestions-
pour anticalc/limescale fluid into any gap there is around the cap. Empty the machine and you can switch it off providing the door is open! Then pour the contents of at least 2 sachets of proprietary anticalc powder/liquid into the drum direct together with a kettle full of boiling water. Leave overnight at the very least. The following day run just a spin cycle as then there will be no water diluting the mix. This mix will go through the filter and motor and is likely to help release the filter/cap. If you feel like it, do the overnight again. If nothing else it will ensure that the heater element is clean!
I had to spend a couple of hours gently turning the cap back and forth until it finally released its hold- but the filter did not remain attached to the cap by its rubber ring. More patience, anticalc fluid and all was revealed!
I now run an anticalc clean regularly............which reminds me..............!

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.

Spin cycle will not work on siemens xlm 1400 and filter has been cleaned what to do

If the spin cycle is not working, it could be several things. How is it not working? If it won't do anything, i.e. doesn't turn, then I would suspect the transmission since the spin cycle is the high side of the transmission. If it spins but does not take the water out of the unit, then I would suspect, either the pump or the timer.

Good luck and have a great day!

I am not able to open the door of the detergent drawer since it is very tight

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

The problem is that you 'have to' open the door/drawer 1) to find out why it was jammed and 2) to put the next load of powder in ;-0)
It might be just gummed up with, for instance, a mix of softener and powder- such a common problem- unless, with use, a bit of it has broken.
It is well worth while following my guidance notes on a thorough clean of the softener drawer- I clean ours (Bosch) and our daughter's (Indesit) regularly- AND the drain filter!
