I can't use my @ symbol on my Lap top how can I fix this problem I tried shift and 2 at the same time and it's giving me this symbol " instead

Your keyboard's input language is likely set for English - Canadian French and you may notice also a problem with keying the question mark ? and getting the é character instead. If you look carefully, you'll see on the 2 key, the @ has the " next to it and the ? key has é next to it. The language bar is the easiest way to get to the window to change the keyboard's input language. However, if you don't have the language bar showing, then you will have to do the following....
For Windows XP
1. at the bottom left corner of the desktop, click on start
2. on the start window, click on Control Panel
3. on the Control Panel window, double click on Regional and Language Options
4. on the Regional and Language Options window, click on the Languages tab
5. on the Text services and input languages part of the Languages tab, click Details
6. to bring up the Settings tab and in the Default input language part, click on v for language list
7. on the drop down language list, high-light and click on English (United States) - US
8. on the bottom of the Settings tab in the Preferences part, click on Language Bar
9. on Language Bar Settings pop-up window, click to set the appropriate check boxes
10. click on OK on each of the three windows to apply settings and exit.
For Windows 7
1. at the bottom left corner of the desktop, click on the round start button with the windows logo
2. on the start window, click on Control Panel
3. on the Adjust your computer's settings window, click on Region and Language
4. on the Region and Language window, click the Keyboards and Languages tab
5. on the Keyboards and Languages tab, click Change Keyboards button
6. on the resulting Text Services and Input Languages window, on the General tab click on v
7. on the drop down language list, high-light and click on English (Canada) - US
8. click on the Language Bar tab then click to set appropriate radio buttons and check boxes
9. click on OK on each of the two windows to apply settings and exit

How can I type Japanese o keybord?

Hai ! This is possible : )

Type in Chinese, Japanese, and other character-based languages

To type text on your computer in character-based languages, such as Chinese and Japanese, follow these steps:

[Source: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Type-in-Chinese-Japanese-and-other-character-based-languages]

  1. Add the language as an input language. If you want to use an input method editor (IME), make sure you select it when you add the input language. For more information, see Add an input language.
    Add an input language

You can edit documents in multiple languages by changing the language (the input language) in which you type. Input languages are included with Windows, but you need to add them to your list of languages before you can use them.

    1. Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Regional and Language Options.

    2. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab, and then click Change keyboards.

    3. Under Installed services, click Add.

    4. Double-click the language you want to add, double-click the text services you want to add, select the text services options you want to add, and then click OK.

  1. Change your input language to the language you installed. For more information, see Change your input language.

Change your input language

The input language is a setting in Windows that controls the language you use to type information on your computer. Before you can change an input language, you need to add that language to Windows. For more information, see Add an input language.
To change the input language

Click the Input language button on the Language bar, and then click the input language you want to use.

If you don't see the Language bar, right-click the taskbar, point to Toolbars, and then click Language bar.

  1. Change your keyboard layout to the desired layout. For more information, see Change your keyboard layout.

Change your keyboard layout

You can customize your keyboard for a specific language or format by changing the keyboard layout. The layout controls which characters appear on the screen when you press the keys on your keyboard. Some input languages have several keyboard layouts; others have only one. For example, you can change your keyboard layout from the English QWERTY format to the English Dvorak format. After you change the layout, the characters on your screen might not correspond to the characters on your keyboard keys.

Before you can change the keyboard layout, you must add the input language and keyboard layout that you want to use to Windows. For more information, see Add an input language.

TIP:
After you are done you can switch between Japanese and English very easily by manually pressing the on screen buttons or using keyboard commands like SHIFT+ALT to switch between Japanese (???) and the Alphabet.

I received a ku-0833 keyboard but no manual. What do the function key symbles mean? Also, where can I get the keyboard user's manual?

The US International English keyboard layout is recommended for those who are comfortable with the qwerty keyboard and need a variety of accent marks or symbols. It uses an intuitive method which works with most (perhaps all) Windows applications such as MS Office and web page software, while keeping the familiar qwerty layout. The installation details are below.

To use, press one of the five punctuation keys `? ~? ^ ?' ? "? , then the letter to be modified.?
' + a = ?,? " + u = ?,? ' + c = ? ? ? etc

Or use the right alt (or AltChar) key? + another key:?
right alt? + / = ¿??? + 1 = ¡???? + c = ©???? + e? = ???? +5 = €. ? This image shows many more.
iekeyboard.gif

Note that this system maintains the "qwerty" layout. However, the modifier keys `? ~? ^ ?' ? "? must sometimes be followed by pressing the space bar when they are actually intended. The system accepts common words, such as it's, without the space bar.

Layout Installation: Win XP:
Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Regional and Language Options. Click the Language(s) tab. Click Details, then Add. Choose an Input language and a Keyboard Layout/IME. Use Apply to finish the process; the Windows installation CD may be needed. The keyboard or multilanguage sections in Start - Help may provide details. Screen images of the installation are here. For Win 2000 click this Carnegie Mellon site.

Windows Vista: Click Start, Control Panel, Clock, Language and Region, Change Keyboards. In the new window, click on the Change Keyboards button. This opens a new window called "Text Services and Input Languages". Click on the Add button. Scroll & check the English (United States) - United States-International keyboard. Click OK. Finally, in the upper part of the "Text Services and Input Languages" window, open the drop-down menu called Default Input Language and choose English (United States) - United States-International as your default for all input fields.

alt+shift? rotates through several language keyboards. Checking the Enable Indicator On Taskbar puts the default language on the taskbar. Or click the taskbar language icon to switch to another language. In Win XP, click the Preferences section for these steps.

hope this helps
