If your external keyboard works fine then it is most likely your laptop keypad problem. otherwise the replaced mobo has problem in its keypad connector point. was it a repaired mobo or completely new one?
Keypad is cheaper in e-bay but buy with caution. there are too many without obligation to humans.

There is not so much that could be done to repair a keyboard. Disassemble the laptop, check the ribbon cable connecting the keyboard to the motherboard. If the ribbon cable is loose, tighten it. If it is tight, replace the keyboard with a new one.

Where and how can I buy a replacement keyboard for Yamaha CVP 305M? Thanks, Michael

There is a well documented problem that occurs with the keybed on some of these models due to a manufacturing fault. Take a look at the keys that are sticking. Is the gap on either side of the key the same ? If not then the key normally leans slightly to the left rubbing on the adjacent key causing the sluggish action. The fixing tab at the back of the key breaks causing the spring pressure to push sideways.

You can just replace the offending key but the problem will eventually return. You could replace the whole keybed but this is a very expensive fix.

Keys are around £ 15.00 each.
Replacement keybeds around £ 450.00

How do I replace one key?

You will need to gain access to the keybed, remove screw from back of keybed the fix it to the base of the keyboard. Slide the keybed back making a gap of about 2cm at the front of the keybed.

Look at the back of the key towards where it pivots and you will see a small arrow, push something like a credit card between the keys at this point and the key will pop up, you can then slide forward releasing the key.

If you need more info please ask.

When i turn on my Ensoniq SQ2 it either says Unexpected Event ID 144 or it boots up and plays random notes or when i play notes only a handfull work I looked at the service Bulliten about the problem but...

I'm guessing this is a main board problem. You can get the SQ-1 Service Manual (parts as well) here:

www.syntaur.com/ensoniq_manuals.html

The Service Manual is for the 61-note SQ-1, but that uses the same boards as the SQ-1, just a different keybed. I don't think this is a keybed problem. You can try unplugging the ribbon cable to the keybed from the main board, boot up, and see if you get the same crash. You may get a KEYBOARD CALIBRATION ERROR message, but you can ignore it; if it boots, the keys won't work, but at least you'll be able to see if you get that error message. If you still do, you know it's a main board problem and not anything to do with the keybed. And at that point, your only hope is to replace the main board.

Newly built system will not power up!

It seems like you have bad MOBO. I recently ordered all the stuff to build 2 new systems. Built the first one, no power, just like yours. Moved everything to the 2nd MOBO, everything worked. I did a RMA on the DOA MOBO. Got the new one and it fired right up. Sometimes you just get bad stuff.

Please don't forget to rate this solution.

Sticky keys on Korg extreme

I just changed the key on my Korg Triton Studio 61. It took some time, but it wasn't that hard. You'd better have a power screw driver. I had to take out at least 30 screws.

Do this at your own risk. Don't blame me if you mess up your keyboard. I'm telling you. If you're not that handy, don't try it. Pay attention to detail and be careful.

The Steps that I took

1) Turn your keyboard face down. Make sure you put it on something soft so that you don't scratch the face of your keyboard or damage your knobs or the pitchbender.

2) Remove all the screws on the bottom panel and remove the panel.

3) you have to take the entire keybed out. Lots of screws! I had to remove the "assignable - midi input/output board" to get it out. MAKE SURE THAT YOU DISCONNECT ANY CABLES THAT CONNECT THE KEYBED TO THE REST OF THE KEYBOARD. I had to disconnect the keybed at three different places. These connector cables are NOT strong and if you pull too hard, you WILL break them.

3) Once you get the keybed out, you have to remove the plastic binder that goes at the back of the keybed. It holds the keys in place.

Then Snap the old key out. snap the new key in. Before you unpack your new key, make sure the old one is really broken. I had a key that wasn't broken. It had just come unsnapped. I snapped it back in and it was fine.

Put it all back together again.

I had a broken key before. i got it repaired and it cost me $150. This time I fixed it myself and it cost me $7.50

Motherboard or CPU dead?

The burning smell (if it was a fishy type smell) may have come from the mobo psu 21 pin connector where you plug in the psu. The connection may not work properly because of melted plastic deposits which may be why you are unable to turn it off at the switch. Just check the old psu connector for signs of rusting pins and mis-shaped connector. If you have a fairly recent mobo and processor ensure that the power supply doesnt need the power supply from the psu, unlike some processors where the power is taken from the ZIF mobo socket.
