TV Menu is in wrong language

It looks like the screen displays on all menu selections is now in Swedish or a similar language. I want English.

The 'Install' option on the main menu is greyed out so the language cannot be changed.

Is there a 'Universal Reset' - I would prefer to do this as I want to start again with setting the TV channels?

I was asked "Can you get to Languages through the main menu without going to install?"

There is no Languages option on the main menu. The main menu reads

    Bild (colour?)
    Ljud (sound?)
    Egeenskaper - can't be selected
    Installera - greyed out

Hope that helps to pinpoint the response.

But surely there must be a universal reset such as poking a paper clip in a hole, or holding down buttons during start-up or one of the other many reset options found on virtually every piece of equipment.

It seems the main cpu controller is defective.

It could be a soft code problem or a hardware problem.

ONE: Do a hard reset.  Merely unplug the power cord for 4 hours or more.  When you power it back up the internal codes will all be automatically restored to the factory default settings.

TWO:  If the hard reset does not help it means there is a hardware problem. Either the controller IC or some other components must be replaced.

Is the set worth the repair?  Only the shadow knows.  It is marginal in age; usually one this old I would not recommend it be repaired.  Why? Because once a set begins to have serious problems it is statistically very likely another failure will follow soon after.  Then, with a couple of repair bills you will be wishing you had just bought a new set. On the ohther hand, if it is a good set and you like it it may be worth it and you may get lucky and find it will go reliably for another 10 years; a pure guess into the future.

I would guess the repair, assuming an IC had to be replaced, to run around $150. But you may have to leave it in the shop for a few days while they order out the part - unless you can get it into a factory authorized facility that is well equipped.

Do you have any further questions?

The only universal reset is by unplugging the power cable.

If you tell me the model number you can try entering in service mode, but I don't think it can help.

The Fault need a reinstall of the internal firmware.

The firmware for Philips TVsis not distributed, you need to have repair done at an authorized service centre if unplugging does not reset.

Call philips at the phone number listed on the ownler manual.

The fault may be a factory defect, in that case will be repaired for free, regardless of warranty and age of the set.
If you need Philips support number let me know your location and the TV model.

I answer within 24 hours .

Thanks

Hi.

You need to reach the Option menu, and to set the language. You will have to do this working on the Korean menu. I hope that the pictures below may help:

moz-screenshot.pngginko_16.jpg

Press MENU button on remote, and go to OPTION menu, which is the one with a tag picture, right on top of the padlock pic.

Use the arrow buttons to select language. use arrow right to confirm and up and down to select.

Below a manual for this model:
