Can't hook Dell tower to 32'' TV

I can't get my Dell Inspiron 530 to hook up to my JVC tv (model no:-LT 32DR7SJ), I was advised to change the resolutions to 1366 but that resolution isn't on there!

i have connected the pc to the tv with a vga lead (pc has single vga port only) the dell and microsoft loading screens show perfectly but the vista login screen and other following screens wont show. I was told by pcworld to change the resolution settings but have spent two hours trying every possible setting with no solution. Im not too sure what a video adaptor is or where i could get one from? is there any chance you would have a download link or the name of the programme i would need? many thanks.

It sounds like your Inspiron 530 is using an Intel Integrated video adapter (the video adapter is the part of the system that runs the monitor) In this case, it is part of your motherboard. If your display properties do no list the resolution you need, then you will need to buy an upgrade video adapter.

You can buy an upgraded video card for your system (PCI-E x16 card, if your system is a 530s, then it will need to be a low profile card) and install it in the system. (The upgrade card will disable the integrated video, if your system has a low end PCI-E card, then the new one will replace it)

You will need to make sure that you have the right jack to connect it then make sure the your pc has a video adapter software when you connect the pc to the tower run the video adapter on your pc and you will see options you need

John E McMahon,
The port you are describing is an HDMI Connector (black) - Connects to a TV for both 5.1 audio and video Signals
NOTE: When used with a monitor, only the video signal is read.

How to hook up keyboard to my dell Inspiron 530

Keyboard come with two different connection options these days. The old PS2-style (circular with ~5 pins) port are less common on current machines these days. The Dell Inspiron 530 is one of them; you need a USB keyboard or a PS2 to USB adapter. This adapter, , is an example of how you would connect your old keyboard to your new computer. There are USB ports on the front and back of the tower.

If you bought the computer new, it should have come with a USB keyboard.

I hope this helps.

Video card upgrade Dell Inspiron 530

If anything, it's simply not compatible with your specs. "Vista 32 bit" alone kind of instilled some doubt in me. But who knows, try surfing around Nvidia's site here

You can try their Option 2 to automatically scan your rig and find a "suitable" driver for it, or try the links below on that site "Beta and Older Drivers" and see if any of the other versions work.

Yes, you can change the operating system with the XP full CD. Boot from the disk at startup and it will erase the linux partition and install windows.
