Ive just bought a secondhand inspiron 2200 and inserted dvds cds and each time its refusing to play how do i solve this

To remove the player turn your laptop upside down and locate a padlock symbol embossed on the plastic. Remove the screw next to it and use a pointed object to press down on the void created by the removal of the screw. Now eject your loading tray and pull out. The whole drive itself should follow once the tray has been fully extended or....
To replace the player I purchased a external optical drive from amazon and it cost 20 pounds for a basic CD reader otherwise a 40 pounds one can also be purchased with higher specs www.amazon.co.uk/Inspiron-Portable-External-Optical-Drive
To reboot my computer i had to remove the inbuilt player in order for the computer to pick up my external cd player.
i have spent many hours on this particular dell inspiron 2200laptop so feel free to ask

You might need to download a driver. When I reformatted my harddrive I had to do this. No software that came with my comp helped it. Try looking on the Dell Website for free downloads for the driver you need.

It work fine a week ago but now nothing how do I remove the player to replace it
The most likely problem is that software you are trying to play it with and/or not having the proper codecs installed. What program are you using to play?
