the JMV 517 error code is as a result of software corruption. One way or the other, your Blackberry's operating system file has be corrupt.
Your Blackberry OS needs to be reinstalled in order for the problem to be solved. You will need Blackberry Desktop Manager installed on a computer, download the latest device software from your carrier website and perform a clean reload of the device software. Below is a link that will guide you on how to do the clean reload :
Once the link is opened, scroll scroll down the page to be able to read information.
Note that due to the JVM error(s) , unless you have done a backup of your personal data of have contacts on a SIM card, you WILL LOOSE all personal data on the device.
If your Desktop Manager can't recognise your device, you will need to contact your Carrier and have a Technical Support Agent assist you.

Your blackberry probably just needs a firmware restore. Here's a guide on how to restore the blackberry firmware. Download the Blackberry Desktop manager and run the application loader.

Hello there, the error message indicates a corrupt OS. Depending on the model what you have to do is visit the blackberry download website search for your blackberry make and model and download the firmware which is recommended for use by your unit.After downloading it install on your PC and run. This process should install the firmware freshly on your device. With a new firmware installed the problem should automatically be solved. Usually the problem arises as a result of either a viral infection on the unit or probably some malfunction from the firmware.
