Snow thrower won't stay running

I have a fairly new craftsman 8.5 horse power snow thrower that stalls out during use. it starts up cold right away. I removed the old gas and replaced it with fresh gas and it worked fine . but the last time i used it .it stalled out after 15 minutes of use.

Mine does too. It will restart but run less and less time at each restart. It's only a year old!

There are enough Google hits describing this problem that a design defect (perhaps involving the coil module) seems likely - and you'll also find several other suggestions to try if you just Google

Replace the spark plug being sure to use the plug recommended in your owner manual, and the gap recommended. Then clean or replace the air filter. Finally use high test, new gasoline. Not gas that has been sitting around for months. good luck

If you put straight gas in a two cycle snow blowe will it smoke

Yes, right after the piston seizes in the cylinder. If the motor is still running but doesn't have a lot of power and smokes a lot, you are mixing too much oil in your gas. You should go for a 50 to 1 mix. Read the label on the two cycle oil bottle for the proper amount to use in your gas for this ratio.

SNOW BLOWER FRICTION WHEEL WON'T DISENGAGE

Use a good quality silicon lube and spray into the top of the cable. Do this until it comes out the bottom, a little at a time. Also, spray all pivot points. Don't use WD-40, it will freeze. Lube everything at the end of winter and again before winter.

Snow Thrower does not self-propel

Did you check under the handle area, near the blower itself for a transmission lever? This will engage & disengage the transmission.

Toro powerlite snowblower sputters out after 10-15 minutes

I would change the spark plug and be sure to gap it as per your owner's manual. I would also clean or change the air filter. I would also use only high test gas and the oil recommended by the manufacturer. good luck.
