I have changed stabalizers and the type of bobbin thread i am using (invisible poly) and it seemd to have solved the problem. Note: wind invisible thread very slowly and carefully it is like fishing line

On the far left of the machine is the tension wheel for the bobbin. Sounds like it is way too loose. Should automatically set if you have entered the right type of fabric.

Try at least 2 new needles first (HLX5, preferably Schmetz). If same, look for any rough edges on the needle plate and feed dog cover.
Beyond that, this does not sound like you are doing anything wrong. You should take your machine in for adjustment by an authorized technician. You should have about 1/2 to 1 full turn of the upper tension knob between too loose/ugly on back and too tight/breaking on the top.

SOURCE: I have a viking designer I and I am trying to embroidery lettering. No matter what I try, it puckers. It looks like the bobbin tension is too tight because I use red thread on top and white on the bot
It sounds like a stabilizer prob. Try some better stabilibers maybe heavier. It may just need the be adjusted by a sewing technician at your local dealer. You can often take these in and have them hooped up and tested right there on the counter. I can do this at my store here in Portland, OR. They usually like them to run well or they get a bad rap. Just try better bobbin thread like anything but YLI. Try a different needle possibly. Or call Gary at 503-254-7317 and ask him what needle to use and what stabilizer and say Lin asked him to assist you. Tell him you are my friend.

I suspect you are correctly threading the machine but the timing of the needle and bobbin hook is off. When the threaded needle goes into the bobbin area, a pointed hook grabs the thread and loops it with the bobbin thread. Something is catching when the needle starts to come up that is not allowing the bobbin thread to be pulled back through the needle plate opening by the upper thread. With machine threaded and bobbin in place, have the bobbin area open if possible and watch the thread interaction when the needle goes down. To set the hook/needle timing, normally covers have to be removed. Suggest taking it to an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for service.
