I put a DVD in my planet autio and it keep saying no disc what can be wrong with it

It may be that the disc is dirty or filmy. Clean it with a clean soft cloth or tissue, and some rubbing alcohol, using a radial stroke.

Oherwise if you burned this disc in your PC there is no guarantee it will play anywhere but in the DVD tray where it was created. If the cleaned DVD is a commercial disc then there is an issue with the player, usually a dirty or misaligned lens. Get a quote for servicing first as it is often cheaper to buy a new unit, and you have a warranty.

My dmr-es35v wont read or play disc.

Short answer: faulty DVD-RAM drive - these drives were notorious for high failures, particularly within their laser/traverse assemblies. The bad news is these cannot be repaired at individual component level; the entire drive must be replaced. soak-tested and its firmware updated by a qualified technician in a fully equipped service centre. The only other problem with that is the cost; being as this unit is now 5 years old, it's probably not economical to repair, as the cost of such would be close to or even exceed the original retail price. I do not recommend that you attempt to service the drive yourself, even if you have experience, in case something goes wrong.

However, if you don't feel comfortable inspecting it yourself, you can submit your unit to the abovementioned service centre, obtain a quote, and a second opinion (on the nature of the problems and what's involved) before going any further. Up to you, but save yourself the agony of expensive labour costs, along with the cost of a new DVD drive (because it is a recorder not just a player - the drive can cost anywhere between $150 - $450 plus fitting) and consider a new unit (DMR-EZ48V or its variation is a good choice as these have a built in SD digital tuner - the DMR-ES35V does not), whenever you can. If the VCR still works in your existing unit, keep it as a VCR, and if you really want a DVD recorder, consider alternative options/models which have features your existing unit doesn't rather than spending money on expensive workshop repair which, while they might guarantee the work done, is not as reliable as a new unit with extended manufacturer warranty.

The NoREAD and/or U61 error with the DVD-RAM drive is a common fault with this model. In many cases, the cost of a workshop service on something like this vs. new product retail price can be significant.

There is no need to waste hard-earned money on unnecessary repairs to products you love when it might be cheaper to simply buy a new one with more features and better warranties.

I have the 5083 dvd player, but it only seems to play region 2 dvds. I've tried going through the menus, but it asks for a country code. The codes are two letters A-Z. I'm assuming that there's...

The Country Code is just related to the Subtitles etc and nothing to do with the Region.
Most DVD Players/Recorders are set to Play the Region of DVD from the Country they were purchased from. Only some are Region Free (will play DVDs from any Country) when purchased.

Some DVD Players/Recorders can be changed to Region Free by simply entering a code on the Remotes handset or by following instructions to enter a Service Menu and change it their.

Unfortunately yours can only be changed by updating the Firwmare which is a risky and difficult process even if you know what you're doing. I wouldn't advise anyone to try it without previous experience as you could render your DVD Player/Recorder useless.

The short answer is - YES, it can be fixed, but at a considerable cost. It is most likely a faulty/failed laser & spindle assembly - and, if it is a DVD recorder, may require replacement of the entire DVD drive plus labour and fitting, etc.

Best option is to obtain a quote and a second/third opinion on the problem from at least 2 different service centres, to make a comparison, as well as a firm decision, then go from there. Up to you.

Be warned; this might not be economical and could be very expensive to repair.

My telefunken has a problem. The guy that tried fixing it says that the tv is in PROTECTION (the light just flashes and no picture or sound comes through. Please help

If the set is in protection mode, that is normally caused by short circuit line output stage, short circuit frame output stage, short circuit audio output etc. It shouldn't be too dificult to fault find, even without a service manual.
Look for an authorised Telefunken service centre.

I plugged my USB external hard drive to my Telefunken TEL4302 dvd player and tried to play an AVI but every one keeps saying "Unsupported audio" can I fix this??

symbaluv, I've found that WinAVI version 7.7 or 8.0 produces xvid files that play perfectly on this unit.

Not exactly sure why, because most downloaded xvids also play fine. I need to find the optimum combination with regards to picture quality as WinAVI doesn't offer much depth.
But for now, it's a start!

That's what FixYa is here for, to try and help the askers as best as possible. Nevertheless, in the case of a majority of Panasonic DVD models (both players and recorders) the most common problem is the 'NoRead' one - this means your drive has failed either completely or partially. DVD drives contain a traverse unit (as a lot of service centres call it) or the spindle motor/laser assembly (as we call it). It is a small block-like component which sits toward the centre of the drive. It is the motor part of this device which fails most often. Unfortunately, as stated in other posts here, this part is not repairable or replaceable at component/user level, instead the entire drive unit has to be replaced, which can cost a small fortune.

As for the operation manual, it is useless, and can be difficult to understand. And you are right; Panasonic will not advise consumers as to how to re-enable or reset the record facility once it is locked out in these types of machines, even if they don't know themselves. Typical. It is very much like the tray lock feature on Sony and some cheaper DVD decks - in those cases that problem can only be corrected by an authorised service agent, it also costs a fair amount too. No user function exists to undo it.

In any case, you can hunt around for a good used DVD drive which will suit your model, but there is no guarantee that it will record; you would need to take it to an authorised service centre to get a quote to reinstate the record feature if possible. You can then make a decision afterwards as to whether it is economical to repair or not. It always pays to get a second opinion with something like this.
