You need a very cheap converter from Ezmedia called Ezmaker.
This is a USB converter with input comp/svhs and sound.
Use software from magix or moviemaker or another capture program.

How can i convert tapes to dvd

You can connect the Camcorder to the Computer using A/V interface to transfer the recordings to Computer.
Once you transfer the recordings from tape to computer, you can use any burning software to burn the recordings to DVDs.
In order to capture the analog videos, you can use the Windows Movie Maker available in the Computer.

I have a really old Canovision8, E40, 8mm camcorder that doesn't work anymore. What's the best solution to convert the tapes to DVD or to the computer?

Hi,
You need Hi-8 camcorder/ Hi-8 player to playback your old Video-8 tapes, hook that camcorder/ player with DVD Recorder, play video-8 tapes and burn DVDs directly.

How can I convert my 8mm tapes to a digital format and save to my hard drive?

If you have DVD Recorder then hook your Video-8 camera in analog AV input and burn a DVD, this will convert analog video/ audio signal of camcorder in digital format and transfer the data on DVD as well. Put that dvd in computer and save it in computer.

Transfering 8mm video tapes to dvds

Hi there. You need to transfer your videos to your computer and then burn them to DVD using a program like Record Now, or Nero. You should be able to get this from Best Buy, or you can get it online from their websites. If you have any other questions, let me know with a comment. Thanks for coming to FixYa.

I have a sharp camcorder model vl-e785u and I am needing to know if there is somehow to download my tapes to a computer to burn to a cd.

I don't know about downloading to a computer, but you can buy a VCR/DVD recorder for about $140, put the VHS-C cartridge in the adapter and transfer to a DVD, or plug your Camcorder into a DVD recorder (about $119) and copy. It couldn't hurt to check out some of the transfer services that could do a little editing and copying for a modest fee.

Mode for playback of older 8mm tapes using Sony DCR-TRV730 ?

In 1990s Sony camcorder records movie in analog format so playing in digital camcorder like DCR-TRV730 doesn't mean it will be converted in digital format and you can not import file in PC for editing purpose. You will get analog signal while playing back old cassettes.

Regarding SP, LP speed, its decided at time of recording. Camera sens SP or LP automatically in playback and set itself accordingly.

If you want to convert old cassettes into digital format, connect our camcorder to DVD recorder and burn DVD which is digital format, copy DVD files in to PC and do desired editing.

Viewing SONY 8mm Tapes -- Please help

The older tapes were shot on a 8mm camcorder and the camcorder you have wil not play them becasue it doesn't have backwards compatability with the older format. The tapes you recorded are on a digital 8 camcorderr and it is different encoding than the one you recorded the other 60 tapes with. You will need to find either a dcr-trv 350 trv 530 trv 730 ect as these have the ability to play all the tapes.
Or find an older 8mm camcorder to play your tapes with.
Hope this helps
Cheers

DCV-TRV460 Tranfer to DVD

Converting analog video, like from Hi-8, 8mm, and VHS to digital video is not as simple as plugging in a cable. If you happen to have a DVD recorder deck, you can burn a disc from the footage directly. Otherwise, you'll need to get some sort of capture device that converts the analog information to digital, then burn a DVD. I use a Hauppauge TV capture card, it converts signals from coaxial cable to digital on my hard drive. There are small, USB-based video capture devices readily available, some come with editing software, but you can always use Windows Movie Maker on a PC, or iMovie on a Mac.
