Question about Soleus LX-140 Portable Air Conditioner

Open Question

Soleus Air lx-140 auto mode does not seem to work.

Manual says auto mode should heat when below 68f, cool when above 80f, and dehumidify while between the two. Have not had temps above 80f, yet, but the heater is not turning on when below 68f. The RH is also quite high when it is between 68-80. This unit is new out of the box with both hoses set as per the instruction manual.

SOURCE: Soleus Heat/Air/Dehumidfer Unit

I have had a soleus wall unit since 2005.
It is a wall unit in my apt...I have never had to use the heating part...but use the cooler part alot.
I can not figure out if that lil raindropis for adding moisture to a room...or is it to remove moisture from the room?

My apt always has to much humidity, so I do use that setting quite often, but can't tell any difference in the humidity gage.

Who knows anything about using one of these.

SOURCE: Soleus LX-140 leaking problem

We have a 1-year PE3-09R-03 that just started dripping water on the floor. The red "tank full" light never came on. I opened it up to investigate, and I believe the problems are caused by dust. The plastic float that trips the "tank full" switch appears to have gotten stuck due to the combination of water and dust in the tray. Once I loosened it up and cleaned the guide tube it rides in, it would trip the switch when the tank was full. The reason the tank was filling up was a little less obvious. There is a 2-piece plastic tray that sits underneath the evaporator and above the condenser. The tray is supposed to distribute the water that's dripping from the cold evaporator coils onto the warm condenser coils so it can evaporate and be blown out with the warm exhaust air (note that "evaporator" and "condenser" are referring to the refrigerant - the terms appear backwards when referring to what's happening to the water on the outside). The tray and its lid have a series of tiny holes that were - guess what - plugged by dust. The tray is relatively easy to remove, just two screws and a spring clamp on the overflow hose. The tray lid is heat-staked onto the tray, you should be able to clean it without separating the lid. I cleaned and reinstalled the tray and verified that water would flow properly. I then reassembled the unit and fired it up, and it's been running without a puddle for over a day in humid weather.
The unit has a filter for the recirculating room air, but there is no filter for the outside air loop. Adding a filter would obviously help keep the dust out, but it could also reduce the cooling efficiency of the unit.
DO NOT use one of these on a floor you care about without some sort of emergency catch tray underneath!

Hi
The Soleus Air condenser blower wheel is all plastic and I have seen many of them disintegrate from normal residential use. It's just a weak part.
Go to shop.soleusparts.com and buy a metal blower wheel replacement kit. Problem solved!

SOURCE: Soleus LX-140 Portable Air Conditioner The drain

Hi Jcamer6,

If the new pipe that you have got leaks , then all you need to do is add up O ring or rings to near the mouth of the hose pipe and you would find that the leak has stopped.

Many a times just because of an absence of an O ring we have such hose pipes leaking.

Hope this helps ..:)

SOURCE: SOLEUS KFHHP-22 - Heater doesn't blow air at all, warm or cold. Cooling works great but no heat.

Doesn't matter how hot it was when installed, there still should have been proper start up performed. That means running unit thru all cycles and checking charge. If it was installed this summer then installer should warranty service to return and complete install properly.

Is a soleus lx-140 portable air conditioner good?

If it's a real good price, and you have enough technical skill to perform the much needed & required regular maintenance for operating (especially in dusty locations) or know someone capable of said task then I say it's worth it as a menopausal woman with constantly changing internal temperature. I bought mine refurbished from 3Gorillas.com (link below).
3Gorillas com Great Products Great Prices Free Shipping Every Day
If you're not technically savvy then they may have a different model for you, but I did my research. They definitely have the best prices for appliances.

Using as heater and unit is blowing cold air

A heat pump is an air conditioner that reverses its refrigerant flow. In the cooling mode, the evaporator is cold to the room and its condenser is hot. In the heating mode, a valve reverses the refrigerant flow and makes the evaporator warm and the condenser cold.

Using heater...cold air out of the back

With heat pumps that's the way they work. In heat mode they are using the evaporator as the condenser and it blows heat out the front and cold out the back. In cooling mode, a reversing valve switches the gas flow reversing the operation of the coils and it blows cold out the front and heat out the back.

Bought a soleus air conditioner portable on and it worked great for week when drained it it has leaked ever since and not working as well to cool and sometimes gets e3 on displat

E3 error message which apparently means my air conditioneris working so well that it has internal frost. It then stops cooling the airand waits for itself to defrost. So every 5 minutes or so it would stop workingeven if the air temp was above 80 degrees. Also check one of this:
E3 Fault room sensor(s) (open or closed circuit)Code
E3Error detail Remote control transmission error (transmitting error)
Inspected unit Remote control. Hope this will help you. Good Luck.

Have a Soleus LX-140 portable air conditioner. Water was leaking out the right side of the machine. Opened the casing and found a clear hose, one end attached to the plastic tray above the condenser and...

I have an LX-100, and had the same problem, so I am guessing that the designs are similar. There should be a pump in the condensate pan at the bottom of the unit -- on mine, it was near the front, right next to the overflow float switch. There should be an outlet on top of the pump, which is where the hose needs to be attached.

It looks like the pump pushes condensate up into that plastic tray, which lets if flow over the heat exchanger, both cooling it and evaporating the water. With the hose detached, you're probably noticing degraded cooling performance and a lot more condensate in the holding tank than there should be. At least, that was the case for me. Good luck.

Soleus 14000 btu air 12000 btu heat

Hi
Your text "will not blow out" indicates lack of air flow.
There are two posiblilities:
The upper blower wheel has failed (evaporator coil) OR the lower blower wheel has disintegrated (condenser coil in cooling mode) - which is very common on this Soleus Air model. The blower motors are very good and rarely fail.
Unplug from outlet, remove the six phillips head screws which secure the back to front of the appliance. Look for many broken pieces of your blower wheel. The proceed to www.soleusparts.com and order a blower wheel replacement kit(s).
Problem solved!
