Yes, it should be possible. I need to ask if you connected your PC through the DVI or RGB input from the back of the computer to the TV. There are 2 main connections for computer monitors. One looks like a plug with 15 pins in 3 rows of 5 (RGB) and the other has 3 rows of 6 (in 2 sections) or 8 (one large section) and and extra larger "blade", possibly with 4 more pins around the blade (DVI).

In either case, you'll need a seperate audio cable to have the audio come through the TV itself. This is a male-male cable with both ends looking like the same ends as for headphones. This should plug in to the back of your TV near the same place as your cable for the video (DVI/RGB). It should be labled "PC Audio" or "PC In" or something similar to that. It should plug in behind the computer tower in either the "Speaker Out" or "Line Out" jack. "Line Out" will usually be set at one volume (regarless of what the computer itself is set at) so you'll be able to change the volume from the TV only.

When turning on the TV with the computer after watching another channel or for the first time, set the volume at 0 or mute the TV, this will prevent blowing out the TV's speakers or your ears.

By the way, I should mention that you should NEVER use a plasma TV for computer use. Only LCD's are designed for computers and video games. I don't know what type of TV you have but plasma's will "burn-in"(show ghost images) of any images that are high contrast and stationary. The same goes for watching any TV channel with a "ticker" on the screen (a black bar at the top or bottom that is in the same spot, usually showing stock market stats, etc.)

After setting up the TV and audio through the TV, you can set up the TV and computer to have 2 seperate monitors if you have a second monitor hooked up to your computer. If you have 2 monitors hooked up, you can have the same image on both, or have 2 completely different things on each monitor. This is done in the "Control Panel" under the START menu of the computer, then go to "Display Settings" on XP or earlier or look under "Appearance and Personalization" where you'll find "Adjust Screen Resolution". Here you can select how you want your monitors to be set up, either "Extend My Desktop" for more space and 2 seperate monitors, or "Clone Desktop" for the same images on both monitors.

If you are having display problems with your TV (screen flickering, desktop looks fuzzy, desktop gets "cut off" at the edges, etc.) this is where you can adjust settings to fix the problem. Try to set the resolution to the highest setting and then the refresh rate at 60hz or higher. Don't worry, if something happens and you can't see your computer on the monitor for any reason while changing these settings, DON'T CLICK ANYTHING OR HIT ANY KEYS and the monitor will automatically reset to the previous setting after about 15 seconds, if you like the settings, click "YES" in the box that asks you if you want to save those settings.

That being said, I hope you have the best of luck getting the most out of your TV and computer with my help and don't forget to rate! If you have any other questions, add it as a comment and I will do my best to help you out. Thank you!

Why has my windows vista home premium system suddenly stopped the sound coming through when I want to play music from napster site through my pc? I have the pc connected to 2 speakerS.

this could be an issue with driver or service failure in the computer..

try restarting the computer in safe mode .. and see if the internal speakers work.. try running a driver update through device manger.. check the cables of course.

if that does not help .. then call 1-877-805-1027 for expert help

When setting up xr8600 is it best to start mains and monitors master at 0DB?

1. Turn the main and monitor volumes all the way down (off). Plug a cd player into channel 9/10 and play a track of music of your liking. With the main/monitor volumes still off, adjust the gain on 9/10 until the clip light turns on, then back it down until the clip light just turns off. Put the channel volume at 12 o' clock.
2. With the music still playing, turn up the mains to the desired listening level first, and then adjust the graphic eq until the music sounds good in the room. Remember or mark the position of the volume control. Do not use the channel eq on 9/10 for music that has been mastered properly, leave the eq flat. Once this step is completed then you have now set the main eq.
3. Repeat the same for monitors. Turn off the main volume and then bring up the monitor main volume to the desired level first, then set eq. Now your monitor eq is set properly. Remember or mark the position of the monitor volume.
4. Set up microphone - plug a mic into channel 1 with volume all the way down. Speak or sing into the microphone and adjust the GAIN until you see the clip light, then back down a litttle on the gain. Put the monitor and main volumes back up to the mark from step 2. Now adjust the volume and monitor send on the mic channel to the desired loudness first before adjusting the mic channel eq. Use subtractive eq method to minimize distortion and feedback. ...i.e. if the mic is bassy then turn down the lows, do not ADD highs. If the mic needs bass, turn down the highs.

UBX Home Theater System

It sounds like a problem with your centre channel or speaker. The sound of Voices and on-screen, actions in the middle of the screen are played through the centre speaker. General sounds such as music in the background, off-screen events, etc. will be played through other speakers on a home theatre system. Check your connectors coming from your DVD player to your sound system. Are you using a single-cabled digital connector or one for every channel? Check your sound settings as well, i.e., Surround, AC3, Music, etc.

Sound not playing correctly via the speakers on the monitor Back ground music but no voice

sounds to me like you may have the monitor speakers connected to the wrong port. It typically connects to the computers Green speaker jack. If it is connected properly, look in the control panel for audio/ speaker properties, change the speaker configuration to stereo speakers, instead of 5.1 speakers. you are likely hearing the rear channel of 5 speaker setup at the moment.

What channel do i go to for svideo cable??

The TV doesn't output the TV as such, UNLESS it has what is called a "Monitor" Output Sockets on it. Then you can connect up to, say another "Screen" or Take the Outgoing Video, & Sound, and "Record" it to a PC, via a Video INPUT via a TV/Video INPUT card. BUT you cannot play the TV on the laptop, FROM the TV. like you wish to do. If your laptop has a TV card INSIDE your laptop, then you could use that and display the OUTPUT from that TV cards' tuner, on the TV. But not the "other" way around. That SVHS is ONLY an INPUT out from your PC. You can put you system into either "Cloned"mode, IE: Whats displayed on laptop screen,is also displayed on the TV, Or, you can have as you seem to now, Extended Desktop. I hope this clears things up for you. Also when using that SVHS connection the Audio comes OUT on the Red & White AV sockets on the set. So you need that cable and another pair for the Audio..

Do you have all 5+1 speakers connected? You need to go to the Setup menu of yamaha and set which speakers you have and which you don't. For example if you don't have the Center speaker connected, receiver will redirect and mix the sound to the other speakers.
Blue-ray film over HDMI should automatically output via all your configured speakers (nothing to be configured).

Laptop connected to TV via 23pin cable and setup

You have to connect the laptop to the TV by using the headphone jack on the laptop.
Only then, will the sound be sent over to the TV, and automatically the speakers on the laptop will stop working.

Get a cable to connect them from the headphone jack to an appropriate input on the TV.

Hope I helped,
Tom
