If you are getting Oil in your air filter it is most likely due to the PCV Valves on the Valve cover going bad it happens a lot. the one in the rear on the Valve cover goes bad and causes it to suck oil into the filter box. replace vacume lines while your at it as they are most likely getting old to

SOURCE: finding the relay for electric fan on '89 jeep cherokee laredo 4.0

It is on the driver fender near air filter housing. Also next to the fuel pump ballast resistor. It is the white 3 inch long piece of ceramic on the fender with eletricial connectors on each end.

SOURCE: 2005 jeep grand cherokee ac blows cold only on drivers side

I agree, these vehicles have a problem with the blend doors and since the accuators hit the door when it opens and closes, it breaks the doors. and it's a huge job to replace them.

SOURCE: 94 jeep cherokee 4ltr. Leak at oil filter adapter

It is very hard to turn, but it will come loose, a cut off allen wrench attached to a pipe works great, as there is no clearance to do it any other way. Have at it cause the allen bolt is pretty hefty.

SOURCE: 1999 Jeep Cherokee sport/air vents do not blow out cold or hot while it is on

this sounds like the recirculation door in the heater box is broken and this is a difficult and can be an expensive repair as the dash has to be removed for access. a quick check for this is if you release the glove box and let it hang you will see the heater box if you reach up to the left top you will feel a grid and the recirc flap is housed there you can operate the blower and hot and cold and see if flap moves

My 1996 jeep grand cherokee oil dipstick tube has vacuum

The PCV system is supposed to pull vac on the crankcase to re-burn the fumes in the oil pan.
But your engine sounds like it has a vent problem via the air filter.

I have 89' jeep cherokee went to check air filter and found alot of oil in breather box thought i had bad pcv valve but autozone says doesnt have one 4.0 litre throtle body fuel injection

The solution is to remove the grommet on the valve cover (for the small line) and replace it with a grommet for a 1985 CJ7 along with the PCV valve for the CJ7. Prior to replacing the grommet, you must bend a metal tang inside the valve cover using a screwdriver. This tang is what forms the "spring" in the built in CCV valve. Bending it up, opens the valve all the way permanently.

Next, take a 3/8 inch quick connect air chuck (the kind you screw into a blow-gun or tire chuck for use on an air compressor equipped with quick connect fittings) and replace the screw in nipple on the manifold (where the original tube attaches) with the air chuck. The chuck is an exact fit (threading and length)but has a much larger internal diameter for the crankcase gases to flow. Finally run a section of 3/8 inch fuel line from the newly installed PCV valve to the new air chuck nipple you screwed into the intake manifold. Attach a hose clap at each end of the fuel line and you're done.

Sounds funny

It is possible that your PCV Valve is not functioning as well as it should,,,also,,it may be that your engine has excessive wear in the piston rings and lower oil rings,,causing excessive blow by into your engine crank case.
This will of course affect how your engine runs and how much oil is consumed.
Check PCV valve and replace as neccessary.
If this doesnt work,,i'd suggest taking it to a mechanic.
