Hi Guest,
Acer has really laxed in their products.
The problem is they have a poor air flow to keep the CPU and the Video Chip Cool. Chances are you blew you Video Chip.
If it is past the warrenty... Look on line for a new motherboard because you can't change the Video chip.
Look in your neighborhood for a good laptop tech who wood change the motherboard

Acer Laptop Screen Flickers & Jumps

Hello,

Please connect the laptop to an external monitor. If no flickering on monitor screen, from my previous experience, this is more likely loose connection of video cable connected to the LCD. So talk to Acer support again and require the replacement of LCD.

Most likely, the problem is NOT with the motherboard, but with the screen itself. It could be either the flourescent bulb or the inverter board. Cost to repair should run about $175 or maybe less, depending on which of the two it is.

If you can't get it repaired locally, contact me for information about shipping it to me for repair.

Acer aspire 4720z model laptop having dim resolution of monitor

The fault could be a faulty CCFL lamp or inverter.
To determine if you have a LCD screen, inverter or video card problem, read this and follow these instructions.
Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

You need a new screen backlight. I was an Acer Repair guy a few years back and its definatley a physical thing. Only other possibility is the dim seetings are set to pretty much 100. If turning the brightness up which you can do from the keyboard fails call acer repairs for the part number or send it in for repair.

Acer Aspire 5720Z Notebook - Screen flickers, goes blank then comes back on when screen/lid is adjusted

It is most likely the connector between the screen and the motherboard that is loose/failing. I would check that first, before taking it in for repairs..
