The blinking "clean light" is a common problem with some of the Kenmore and Whirlpool models dishwashers. The problem is usually attributed to water supply temperatures being too low when filling. Apparently, there are some issues with the temperature sensing circuits in some dishwashers that causes an error code to be generated if a certain water temperature is not achieved in a specified time interval (this time may differ between models). There is a reset sequence that you can try to clear the fault. Push the NORMAL WASH then HEATED DRY buttons in that sequence two to three times. The unit will enter diagnostics mode, but can be stopped by pressing the CANCEL button. This will clear any existing faults and should return the dishwasher to normal operation.

To keep the fault from returning, it is recommended that you run your hot water faucet in the kitchen until it runs hot BEFORE you start the dishwasher. This will heat the water in the supply line for the dishwasher (most dishwashers are fed from the kitchen sink supply line). The theory is that if you fill the dishwasher with hot water from the start of the wash cycle instead of the cool water that is normally in the lines (especially if you have a hot water tank located far away from the kitchen), this should satisfy the requirements of the temperature sensing circuits. If the fault reappears, there should be a tech sheet located inside the lower panel under the door that explains what the fault is. The flashing light will be a series of flashes, followed by a pause. If you indeed have a component problem, it will depend on the number of flashing lights in the sequence. Refer to the tech sheet to determine WHAT component is affected and how to troubleshoot.

How can I determine if my capacitor is blown out?

You'll need to disconnect the power to the dishwasher; know how to properly discharge a capacitor- they pack enough stored energy to cause serious injury and/or death. You'll need a digital or analog multi meter with an Ohm scale (resistance) or a higher end DMM that has a mFd (microfarad) and nFd (nanofarad) scales

We use JET DRY rinse and it no longer dispenses....the resevoir stays full. We bought the unit at Sears 2 months ago

Sometimes the jet dry rinse scums up at the outlet and you need to clear the block. What works best for me is a guitar string, because it is hard enough to penetrate the scum but not hard enough to cause damage.

Heating element not working

normally on a kitchenaid dishwasher the diagnostics cycle is activated by pressing heated dry - sani rinse - heated dry - sani rinse - heated dry - sani rinse - heated dry and this will energize the heating element but the only way to check is to see if you are geting voltage out of the board or by checking the resistance of the elment should usaly be around 16 ohm's

Flashing clean light and wont start. Is there a sequence of buttons to reset the switchboard?

sani rinse---heated dry---sani rinse---- heated dry.. all the lights on console should light then close the door, let run for 20 -30 secs, and cancel the cycle, if the problem happens again yo need t call a servicer. 1 time maybe a fluke but to happen again indicates a heating, issue somewhere(or a lack of heating)

1987 In-Sink-Erator Classic Supreme (Just like KitchenAid from that era) - leaked Jet Dry after it was filled. Haven't taken door apart yet to figure out what is wrong. Also, after washing/rinse/dry is...

You have to replace the rinse aid compartment if not the whole inside door shell ,the reason for the coating is because your not using rinse aid.If you are using the same soap than you need to replace the leaking dispensor.

Kitchenaid dishwasher KUDS02SRSS2 start light blinking won't start

I have this same kitchenaid model. It would not start after selecting the wash cycle and pressing start. The light would blink as if the door was open. I did the reset by pushing the sani-rinse, heat dry, sani-rinse, heat-dry and closing the door. You can hear something going on inside. After that stopped (about 3 minutes). I was able to select the wash cycle, press the start, close the door, and it started. Good luck!
