There are many possible reasons for a blue screen at windows xp.the most likely ones are:damaged windows instalation - in which case you will need to reinstall windows.damaged physical drive - in which case you would need to get a new hard drivethe OS cannot access memory - could be RAM memory or HDD. I'm guessing you would just need to re-install the windows. You are most likely to lose all data.
You can download the drivers from the Compaq/HP
WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or
Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Click on
this link to download the drivers: - www.compaq.com/country/cpq_support.html
this might be hardware compatibility problems some new devices do not except windows xp but what was the reason you are reinstalling windows did you have problems before through my exp with computers ram could also be going bad but your best bet is try it again and when you get the blue screen of death it gives you a error code something like this 1000008e or there may be multiple codes google them and there you should find your answer
hmm error on blue page saying windows setup can not complete? ok this sounds like your disk is dirty or scratched. check the disk to insure that its not dirty or scratched. even the smallest finger print can interrupt the installation try cleaning the disk.
you need to puchase a copy of windows XP Pro SP3 - Install the cd from booting of it, you will come to a blue scean- press Enter, F8, and then you will need to pick what options from there that you want - After compleating the install you will then need to download & buy DriverAgent + install it on the computer you want to run XP and register it, then you will be able to download the driver you need for your computer.
During the Windows XP install it cannot find a hard drive? The reason why Windows install does not work is because Windows XP does not have a SATA driver support and therefore cannot find the hard disk. THE FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. Go into your BIOS and turn off Native SATA support or set it to IDE controller (this setting depends on the type of BIOS). Save the setting and reboot and you will be able to install Windows XP.
IF YOU CANNOT DO THIS IN THE BIOS then :-
Go to the Compaq/HP WEB site to download the SATA driver for your model laptop. This driver is used to install the 3rd party driver during the Windows installation (during the Windows installation you need to press F6 to allow you to install the SATA driver).
