I have a Garmin 2010c on my boat and turns off every 10mins.. what can be the problem?

Bad connection or a fault to the unit.

Do you have it on a separate battery? It is best if they are, or connect direct to the starting battery, not connected via power that you find in the console or on a power bar.

Make sure you are using good quality copper stranded wire of the correct gauge with soldered or properly crimped connectors. I think it is 18 gauge, but your installation instructions will guide you. Also mentions 24 AWG. Manual states;

Wiring
There are two wiring diagrams provided for you convenience. The first is a simple hook-up showing the GPSMAP 2006/2010 (using the 18-
pin wiring harness), the GPS 17 and the alarm circuit. The Alarm does not have to be wired for the unit to function. The second is a complete
wiring diagram showing the GPSMAP 2006/2010 (using the 18-pin wiring harness) interfacing with a variety of different equipment. The extra
5-pin wiring harness that came with the unit is intended for future interfacing features and does not require connection. Refer to the wiring
diagram that will best suite your needs. Make sure that all connections are good. For extra lengths of wire, 24
AWG (unless otherwise noted on
wiring diagram), shielded, twisted-pair wiring is recommended. We advise soldering all connections and sealing the connection with heat shrink
tubing. If you experience difficulty wiring the unit, please contact an installation professional in your area.

Make sure the connections are good on the rear of the unit including plugs to the transducer. You can coat with a little Vaseline which his electrically conductive.

States the unit is susceptible to RFI and should be 3 feet away from a radio antennae.

Finally, make sure the inline fuse and connections to it are good.

If all that seems good, the first thing to do is swap out the transducer for a new one. Still does it? Send the unit for repair.

Does it also do it at rest in the marina, or do you trailer the boat?

My garmin 545s does not turn on

My Garmin 545s would not power up. I took the unit to West Marine, where they had the correct cable to hook it up and test it. The unit immediately powered up and I purchased a $22 cable and installed it. Easiest test and fix I could come up with. Really cheap fix.

My 2010c says it's looking for the antenna but never finds it. any suggestions?

That unit uses an external antenna. Check that the antenna is connected properly and that the antenna has power.

My scanner won't scan. I get the message " Scanner is busy, operation can not be completed. Canon DR-2010C Driver Version 1.1.10805.18001 (-4437).

This may mean that something is using it or that something is interfering with it. Try turning everything off, your computer AND your scanner. Wait a minute or two and then turn your scanner on first and the turn your computer back on. When your computer boots back up don't open anything except the scanner. If your still getting the message then there is something else (another attached peripheral) that may be interfering with the scanner.

Hi I'm having a few issues with my deh 2100 head unit in my VY commodore. I installed it myself with the right wiring harness but the head unit doesn't remember settings or band settings. Also when the...

When a head unit doesn't remember settings like yours, then the Yellow constant battery wire isn't hooked up correctly. This wire provides power to your unit constantly from the battery so that it can remember the settings and such. Your aerial not going up is the Blue power antenna wire. This wire will provide power so that when you turn your unit on, it powers the antenna to go up. Hope this helps!

Wont search for sattelites

Hi

Does your unit have an external aerial as shown in the pic, If so double check the connection from the aerial into back of the fishfinder, lube with water proof grease (Non-conductive)

You do not say whether it has worked before.

Also need to know where it is located on boat, it must have a view of sky overhead (If internal antennae)

Ext antennae must also be in view of sky, not under "solid" cover.

I’m attaching a wiring diagram which hopefully isreadable. I’ll also list the “where to”instructions for all of the other wires. It’simportant that several wiring steps be done in a particular order.

About the Memory Wire:

The memory wire is Yellow and should be connected to the +12 V power terminal (which isenergized at all times). First besure to connect the black ground (earth) lead to a metal surface of the car.

Important…
>>Before making connections, turn the stereo unit and carignition off to avoid short circuits.
>>Connect the yellow and red power input leads onlyafter all other leads have been connected.
>>The power antenna (aerial) control lead (blue)supplies +12 V DC when you turn on the tuner.

Hope this helps. Lemme know if you have more questions or would like me to email you acopy of the owner’s manual.

Thanks, and take care.

Gail :-)

Locks up after a few seconds/have to kill power to reset

This may help. Mine has the GPS antenna build into the bracket at the back. I removed the bracket and the unit did not go into the error screen and the sounder worked fine. The GPS would not locate but it has not antenna attached so DOH!! I have orderd a new antenna with the BNC connector and will post if that fixes the problem. At this point I'm guessing its a blow GPS antenna.
