Am thinking if all works good except won't spin, it is your lid switch. Under your washer lid you will notice a peg of some sort that when lidnis closed goes into a slot/hole and that triggers the spin cycle. That is in lamens terms know as a safety idiot switch. It is designed so when the washer is spinning at those high speeds,na child or not to smart adult does not open lid and put hand in while spinning. SO, if switch goes out, of course it won't spin. Switch is cheap , under 20 bucks at any appliance parts store, and they even can tell you at store how to putnin yourself by showing on one of there washers on display. Let me know if I nailed it!!

SOURCE: my washer was flashing F21

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description specifically the door not unlocking combined with the F21 or as you stated "F21 & would not unlock" I'd suggest you check the pump filter and sub-components, i.e. back flow ball, drain hose etc.

Here's a link to my solution or explaination to guide you through checking these things. Typically this is associated with an error of F2, F21, or "suds" but not always.

As for unlocking the door, it's a good idea to get the water out first, but in any event to do so is as follows...

Once you remove the service panel at the bottom, shown here (also shown in my "repair tip")....

...there is a manual latch release just below the lock latch assembly that you may be able to see visually or feel for by reaching up to the latch and pull the small "loop" below the lock...this is a image of what you'll be looking for.

Let me know how you make out or if anything is not clear and I'll try to help you moving forward in any manner I can. Good luck.

Macmarkus :)

SOURCE: my washer will not spin,

Hi mwilczewsk,

I believe your drain pump filter is just clogged. The drain pump is trying to pump the water out before the Spin cycle, but can't. Usually this is caused by a foreign object that is obstructing the impeller. See my tip on how to access, drain & clean the Drain Pump Filter:

ACCESS, DRAIN & CLEAN THE DRAIN PUMP FILTER

After this, the Spin cycle will run, after the drainage procedure. If it does not, then you may need to replace the Drain Motor. Which is a easy task.

Kind Regards :-)

Sounds like your washer does not empty enough water for the spinning to stop. Have you check that the filter(s) are not clogged?

Fridgidare washer front load won't spin & there's water in the tub. It's about 10 years old

If it's that old, you're better off buying a new unit. You'll spend about half the cost of a new one fixing it.

Washer fills then stops

there are contacts that are in the timer that get arched and don't make good contact. also there is a set down by the motor that sometimes mess up and stop working you can use some emery cloth to clean the contacts. good luck.
