Question about 791XV The 791XV is a 2-way Security and Remote Start system. Th
I have a Viper 791XV using a 478V/P/C remote. The system started acting flakey. At first I had to press the arm or disarm button on the remote several times to get the system to arm / disarm the alarm. Now it has become so unreliable that I'm no longer using the system. The remote says it is sending the signal, but then it chimes that it did not receive a response from the alarm unit. I can still use the aux button to pop the trunk reliably, with no problems. Is my remote going bad?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Sounds like the tach connection has been loosened or slipped out of position. Here is a link for installation manuals, Will help in location and inspection of tach wire.

It could be set on car #2. Press function for 8 seconds and a light next to lock should come on. If the light next to unlock and lock (two lights) then it is set to #2 car (you can operate 2 cars with one remote). All you have to do is press function again to toggle between the two cars. You want to end up with only one light showing.
So, hold function for 8 seconds, then after a light shows, release and press function until you only see the one light.

Change the battery, 2-way remotes require 2 slim batteries on top of one another. Regular remotes only require 1.

My battery ran low and I jump started my car which some how caused the problem. My viper technician made me a buy new remote but the problem continued even with the new remote.
Try disconnecting the battery of your car for ten minutes and then reconnecting it. It worked for me. Now i have a extra remote which i don't need.
