Do you see a "ghost image" on the monitor in a bright light? If so your backlighting isn't working. That can be a couple of things, A tiny switch, thet turns the monitor on and off when you open and close the lid. It can get stuck or damaged. It's located near the hinges. OR a ribbion cable located a the rear of the monitor may not be making a good connection. OR your backlighting may be out completely. It's difficult to say exactly.

I think on a Asus it's F-9. Sounds like a hardware issue. If you open , close a couple of times the lid to see if the switch is stuck? Has there been any jolt, drop, jarring....etc. of the laptop?

The lid switch will be located around the hinges, it's hidden. But if there is no "ghost Image" that's not the problem. There is a ribbon cable in the back of the monitor, if not seated properly you will not have anything on the screen. For Example: My laptop was leaning against a table on it's side and fell over on the charger transformer. When I turned it on the screen was out. I opened the monitio and reseated the ribbon cable and secured it with a peice of tape, problem solved. If you unplug the laptop, remove battery, leave battery out, plug in, boot. Still the same? Have you done any upgrades?

How to remove black screen from my laptop

If you have a repair disk, boot from it and run a "Start up Repair". On a Dell machine I think it's "F10" during the boot process to get to the BIOS settings, change the setting to boot from CD to run the repair. After running the repair, reboot and enter the BIOS again, change the setting back to boot from the Hard Drive, save and exit. Hopefully this will solve the issue.

Starts up then shuts down within 3-5 seconds

is this happening everytime you start the machine? What is being displayed on the screen? Do you hear the fans running when you press the power button? Do you hear the disc drive running? Do you hear the cd drive click once and the light on the cd drive door come on for a second or two? Is it posting anything on the screen during the boot process? Is it getting to the actual windows desktop which is where you see your icons? Computers shut down for a reason. Either some piece of hardware is not working such as a fan, or some hardware is faulty (such as the memory, cpu or motherboard), or some software issue or a virus has taken over.

Asus G2S back light screen faulty

Price inverter for your laptop screen. Have it professionally installed unless you know hardware, static, etc. It can be a big job with some laptops being completely dismantled to access the inverter. I've done quite a few. Some laptops have a bezel that is very difficult to open. (Like working on a dollar store toy--only it costs $1000!

once you have your computer running

try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to recover bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive

hope this helps good luck
