It depends , if u want that router in the same network which ur getting previous one the..
1. open the router2 page .disable the dhcp server. change the lan ip according to the first router.example if getting 192.168.1.2 the change ip to 192.168.1.10 of the router2 n save settings.

2. connect ethernet cable from lan port of the router1 to lan port of the router2.
3. power cycle the network.

And if you want to make to different network....
1. open the router2 page ,change the lan ip to 192.168.8.1.save settings.
2. connect ethernet cable from lan port of the router1 to wan port of the router2.

3. power cycle the network.

make sure that whatever the settings u want to do on the router make ur pc hard wired first.

Assuming the modem is on and running.
  • Plug in the Ethernet cable from the WAN/Uplink port on the router to the Ethernet port on the modem
  • Power on the router.

Additionally you can add wireless security and a password so unauthorized people can use your network for free.
The router by be preconfigured for this already.

Net gear router won't install properly and will not let me use the internet

Hi,

You may want to try:
  • If both your router and modem have DHCP features enabled, disable the one in the modem;
  • manually set the Internet/WAN IP add of the router to follow the IP add of the modem;
  • manually set the default gateway of the Internet/WAN side of the router to use the IP add of the modem;
  • set the PCs connected to the router to automatically obtain IP adds.
  • verify that the PCs uses as their default gateway the IP add of the router.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Belkin wireless router

Hi,

Your Belkin router is normally configured to get a dynamic IP Add from your Internet provider unless otherwise configured. Most ISP's network where clients/subscribers connect (through DSL) has a DHCP server that hands out this IP adds. If your router keeps on changing its WAN IP add, it may presumably be because:
1. Your router keeps on rebooting or powering on/off and everytime it turns on, it is given a new IP add;
2. Your ISP's DHCP server keeps on renewing its lease on the IP add given to your router.

Corrective measures would entail:
a. Do a full hard reset of your router and go through the installation setup again. Of course this would revert all settings/configuration to factory default; and/or
b. Contact your ISP and explain your concern.

In some cases, the router's MAC address has an issue that the ISP's DHCP is keeping a hard time recognizing it. this can be corrected with a firmware update.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things tunrs up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kin regards.
