If it uses AMI bios then 5 short beeps means motherboard failure.

Only CPU + Fan + Power cable are installed on the mainboard.

Describe your Gateway M675 Laptop w/ Pentium4 Gateway M675 won't maintain a charge after charging and the display flicks from ac/dc until the battery is completely empty. Do I need a new battery or power...

Sounds like you need a new power adapter. The M675 needs the correct voltage constantly to work correctly.I'm using one right now and it does the same thing with the wrong adapter or a weak adapter(low voltage).M675 is a great laptop but with the 3.0ghz its got to get the power it needs especially when its under a heavy load.

How do I keep my Gateway NV5214u from beeping when the power cord is disconnected

Your computer beeps when it is running on a low battery. (So, when the power cord is plugged in, it doesn't beep). It is possible that your battery no longer can hold a charge and you need to buy a new one, if you can find one.

Laptop will not charge. After wiggling the cord

That's a short in the power input section of the motherboard- I've found, much to my dismay, that the power input/charging circuit on these laptops is not a separate circuit board as it is on some other models, but is a small area of the motherboard itself. You'll either need to have someone repair the motherboard or replace it entirely.

Gateway NV52 Laptop charger sound.

I don't know if this will work with Vista but in Windows 7 you can go to the speaker icon in the taskbar and click on the icon above the volume control. This will take you to the sound properties. Click the levels tab and mute the PC speaker. This worked for me.

I think i have the same problem but idk

how many beeps? different beeps have different causes and solutions. since you mention about the charger, try this:

Try taking out battery and plug in power. If it works, battery is faulty. If not,
Try taking out your hard disk plug in power, if it works, hard disk is faulty. If not,
Try taking out memory card, if there's a sound, memory card faulty. If no sound, it's your motherboard that is causing the error.

Note: If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the repairs.

Power BOX supply cord problem or hardrive problem?

Check these settings first. In a clear spot on the screen where no icons are, right click and go to properties, box opens and at top should list from R to L, themes-desktop-screensaver-appearance-advanced. click on screensaver, close to bottom click on power, another box should open, click on power schemes, make sure it's set to portable/laptop, and at bottom make sure settings for plugged in are are set to never. If it's not that then you have a bad power supply cord, or a bad power supply unit in laptop. If it's new and under warranty take it in and have replaced if not warrantied then will cost you about 100-150, just a guess!! hope this helps. But it sounds like the supply cord making the beeping noise might be bad. Make sure it's plugged all the way in as well.

Dell laptop charger

First try starting the machine without the battery, only the charger, Then check the charger with an ohm meter to see if it's working properly. The out put readings are listed on the charger. In case of a surge, the charger is designed to go out first before damaging the system. However, this is not always the case. If the charger checks good, then you should take it in for a professional diagnostic because the problem may be with the power management system on the motherboard. One thing to keep in mind for future reference is when moving to a different location with your laptop, when unplugging the charger, always unplug the charger from the laptop before unplugging from the wall socket, and when plugging in, always plug the charger into the wall socket before plugging into the laptop. This will keep from surging your system.

Laptop will not come on . it started all of a sudden.

when you connect to the raw power, do you hear any beeps ? Is there a sequence ? Long beeps / short beeps ? Anything of this sort could mean a issue wiht the internal hardware.

If there are no beeps, then I think its with the power itself. Could be the power cord .

Hope this helps
