Question about Dell Inspiron 2650 Notebook
I accidently bought a dell inspiron 2650 with some big issues. I am hopeing I can make the best of this but maybe I should just cut my losses. What parts do I need, what is compatiable? The Memory / Harddrive / Harddrive Caddy are missing. I am looking for the most cost effective solution. Thanks.
I wold advise cutting your losses and running because you have no idea what else you wil find wrong.
Adding up the costs of the items you listed, iy is going to cost you nearly $175 and you still will atbest have a 5 + year old computer and at worst will have invested amnother $175 in a computer that still doesn't work.
On the other hand last night at Best Buy I saw 2 new computers with over 1 gig of RAM, 160 gig hard drive, dual layer DVD/CD burner and much faster CPU for under $350.
Which makes more sense to you -- putting $175 into an unknown computer that is severly obsolete and may not work even the or paying $350 for a modern much faster more poerful machine with a new warrenty?
PS: I have a 2650 that I bought new and sure wouldn't put $175 into it.

If you "accidently" can repair this laptop, then you get a reasonable good computer.
you will find the price for your RAM here:
you will find the price for your HDD here:
you will find the price for your HDD caddy here:
-> the rest is up to you
plz let me know how you are going regards /Teis
