Have the same "smokehouse" and faced the same issue today. First, ensure the Wood Chip Grate is rotated so the highest part of the Grate is to the left. Next , place the Water Bowl on the left (that highest part) and the Wood Chip Bowl w/ Lid to the right (balanced on the Grate so it doesn't fall through the supports.

How do you burn the wood chips

The pre-soaked wood chips are placed in the cylindrical wood chip holder on the side of the unit and then inserted into the smoker above the wood chip tray. The wood chip tray must always be in place prior to loading the wood chip holder.

To further assist you, in case you have misplaced the Owner's Manual, I have included a link to it, that you can download and print for future reference. It also includes recipes.

Can I get replacement for the heating element model 200700106 serial GA040909

The element kit is Part # 9907079003. So first try Masterbuilt 1.800.489.1581, as they use this same element in a couple of different models. My primary source for grill & smoker parts, Appliance Factory Parts, says it's no longer available. So Masterbuilt may be your only source. But, to be very candid, that's iffy, at best. Masterbuilt is not known for having critical parts for their smokers.

I hope this wa of some help to you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

The moist chips take a short time to dry so they take awhile to create the smoke. Is the holder for the water and wood chip boxes mounted correctly on the bottom rack, where the water is on left and wood chip smoker box on right side of smoker? Both items should be right above the heating element with barely any space between them.

Where does the wood chips need to be placed in the smoker?? I don't see a chip pan.

If you don't have the wood chip tray, you're sitting dead in water, at this point. The wood chip tray goes above the burner, below the water pan. If this is a brand new, just purchased smoker. Go back to where you purchased it or call the number in Owner's Manual for "Parts missing". If it's not brand new, you can purchase a smoker tray from Masterbuilt Customer Service 1.800.489.1581

Hope this helped you.

Exactly how does the charcol come into play not exactly sure where to place it.

Debbie, unless you listed the wrong model number for your Masterbuilt Electric Smoker ... Electric Smokers don't use charcoal at all. They use wood chips, that are placed on the wood chip tray, just above the burner. The smoldering wood chips generate the smoke.

Element does not heatup

I once had a similar problem with this electric smoker and i called Masterbuilt and they said they no longer sell the elements. you have to buy the cabinet @ $189 for the 40" model. I decided to pull my element and see if i could find one that would work by going to an appliance repair parts store.

When i pulled the element, i found that the terminal that plugs into the element was burned/melted in two. i replaced the terminal end, pluygged it in and it is working fine.

to remove the element, you need to remove the element cover/chip loading chute first. its easy, 2 sheet metal screws and 2 nuts and 2 machine screws. one of the nuts/machine screws is a little hard to get back on when you reassemble but it can be done. after the cover is removed, you will see 3 screws where the element goes through the back wall. only removed the left and right ones. do not loolsen or remove thecenter one. after you remove the 2 screws, you can coax a small amount of the wire leads out into the open and you can inspect them to see if they are broken.

if the problem is truly a bad element, you will have to find an element somewhere.

We have the masterbuilt 700 series digital smokehouse. The wood chips are no longer burning - we have no smoke. Is the repair easy and cheap?

You probably have a bad heating element, Turn the unit on then turn your digital heat to 275 and open door the heating element should become cherry red. If it doesn't then you have a bad heating element. If you do not get a digital readout then you probably have a bad digital control panel. Both of those parts can be replaced, however i do not know the price for either of those parts. If you have neither working then you may have a short or broken wire that is not making a full curcuit. Good Luck
