You can try ,it's possible that the bobbin could come out while
sewing
but it would be a good idea to get another one
what is the name and model number of the sewing machine? I will
see if I can find you a place to buy another one.

My class 66 singer bobbin has no notches to put the thread in... i have NO idea how to thread it. i have no problem winding, its just the sewing part. please help!!!

It sounds as the the actual bobbin CASE is missing from the machine. This is the part under the chrome slide cover that has a "dish " into which you drop your bobbin. The edge of the "dish" has a slot for the thread to go in and a slot where the thread lies after it has gone under the spring on the outside of the "dish". If it is missing I'm afraid you will need to source one before you can hope to sew.

Bobbin thread not cutting

With the bobbin case out of the machine, touch the cutter button. Do you see the cutter arm move from left to right and then back left. If not the cutter arm is out of place. If it does it is something else.
I usually check two things:
1 - your cutter blade might be missing or dull and needs to be replaced. I would not recommend doing this yourself unless you are very good.
2 - many times there is lint or loose threads around the cutter in the area to the left of the needle plate that needs to be cleaned out. You can remove the cover to this area by first removing the needle plate and bobbin case. Then the cover is accessible to pop off by sliding the tip of a small screw driver under the cover at the bottom right corner of the cover. There should be a little opening. Carefully pop the cover off but be careful that the blade mechanism does not come off too. With your finger carefully hold the silver metal blade area steady and pick out the loose threads/lint from around the copper looking metal part. There is velcrow on the tip of the copper metal part so be sure that you don't remove that too. That's what holds the thread for the blade to cut it. If velcrow is missing, or the silver metal part is out of place that could be the problem also.
I recommend that any repairs/service be done by an authorized Viking dealer. You can find a local dealer by checking the Viking website at http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us and going to the Locate a Dealer link.
Good luck

I have been given a singer 4613 sewing machine. It seems to work very well. I cannot wind the bobbin because it appears the bobbin winder is missing. The manual show a winder on top, but there isn't one...

HI Vera,

I just picked up a 4613 and had the same confusion. The answer is...the bobbin winder is built in!! What you do is leave the machine threaded as normal and simply slide open the bobbin cover about an inch. You will see an arrow on the cover which you line up with an arrow on the machine bed. In this position, push the presser foot and run the machine and the bobbin will wind itself. It's actually really nice as you don't ever need to unthread the machine.
