It sounds like your computer might be infected with spy- and/or malware. The easiest way to get rid of this is to use a free program like Adaware (or any other similar program). Adaware is made by Lavasoft, a simple google search should get you a download.

Another option might be to get an add-on for Firefox called "AdBlock Plus". I've been using it myself for years to block out unwanted adds and I do believe it also kills certain popups.

It sounds like there is an issue with Firefox. The link below will help you manually uninstall so you can get a clean reinstall of Firefox. If you need the XP steps for this let me know.

Why do these ads keeping popping up?

You can reduce (or eliminate) the occurrence of pop-up ads by setting an Option in your browser that "Blocks Pop-Up" ...
If you're using IE Explorer, click on "Tools" (top right corner of screen - tool bar), put your cursor on "Pop-Up Blocker" (in the drop down window) and click on "Pop-Up Blocker Setting". Then, at the bottom of the window, set the "Blocking Level" at HIGH - which blocks all pop-up from showing up on your screen.

You can do it for other browsers as well ... e.g. Mozilla Firefox ...
click on Open Menu (the 3 horizontal bar on top right corner), select Options (in the drop down window), select the "Content" tab ... and check of the box (on the top) that says Block Pop-Up's, and then close.

Often pop-up's show up because your activity (viewing, searching, etc.) on the browser is tracked. Yes you can turn off tracking too !
This tracking info is used by "ads spawning" processes/apps to select which ads is displayed on your computer. So, you can reduce the amount of ad's by deleting cookies (particularly for these ads programs) every time you're done and close your browser ... just like you remove your (browsing) history, temporary files, cache information, etc.

How to get rid of ads on my screen when I go to my in box in Yayoo mail

You can either temporarily hide the ads that keep popping up on your Yahoo Mail page or block them permanently. To know how, refer to the steps below.

To temporarily hide ads (for free email accounts):
1)Sign in to your Yahoo Mail account
2)When, while viewing your list of emails or a particular email, an ad pops up, you can see a right-facing arrow between your email and the advertisement. Click on this arrow.
3)The ad will get hidden temporarily.
(Important: This blocks the ads temporarily only and as soon as you perform the actions like refreshing the Yahoo Mail page, marking a particular email as spam, replying to an email, or just clicking on any of the sections in the navigation-menu located on the left of the page, a new ad may pop up again).

To permanently remove graphical and text ads:
Yahoo Mail has recently come up with "Yahoo Ad Free Mail" service to enable you to get rid of graphical and text ads on a permanent basis when viewing your Yahoo Mail account from a computer. You need to sign up for Yahoo Ad Free Mail account before starting using this service.
(Note: Before signing up for Yahoo Ad Free Mail account, please check if the service is available in your region. Also, even after subscribing to the service, the subscribers may still get the text ads that come up on Yahoo Mail on a mobile web browser and the text ads that come up in the "Basic Mail" interface of Yahoo Mail on a computer. To know what Basic Mail is, refer to the following Yahoo webpage: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mail-for-desktop/basic-mail-sln5171.html)

How do i enable pop up windows

Firefox is a free alternative Web browser to Microsoft Internet Explorer.
If you have opted to use Firefox and are having trouble using specific websites that require popup windows, you can alter the popup blocker settings in Firefox.

Click the "Firefox" button and then click "Options."
Click the "Content" tab.

Locate the line that reads "Block pop-up windows" and click the "Exceptions" button next to it.
Enter the full URL of the site for which you want to allow popup windows.
Click the "Allow" button to add that site to your exceptions list.

Continue adding URLs as necessary until all of your exceptions have been added, then close the Allowed Sites window and the Options window.

My sony ereader is saying the disk is write protected and will not let me put any books on it. please help.

If a CD is write-protected, it means that it is closed. Or possobly not
formatted.

[[CD-R stands for Compact Disc-Recordable and can be recorded only once.
You may continue to add files until the CD is full as long as the disc is
not closed (write-protected). You cannot delete, rename, rearrange, or
alter the files or file structure on the CD after recording.]]

Open CD:
[[If a CD is open, it means that further information can be added to it. It
is not write protected.]]

Closed CD:
[[If a CD is closed, it is permanently write-protected. No further
information can be added to the disc. Closing a CD is analogous to moving
the write-protect tab on a floppy disc to the write-protect position.
However, unlike floppies, you can only change the write-protect setting on a
burned CD once. Once the disc is write-protected (closed), this setting is
permanent.]]

You can try this one:There is this program called sound taxi it is suppose to remove write protection. link is here http://www.soundtaxi.us/download.html
