Tappan gas wall oven identification question for an older unit

How do I use the serial and model numbers from an old, old Tappan wall oven (gas) to find replacement parts? The identification letters and numbers on the unit are: AZ12-1239-26-13149-8621 6741 GA.

The oven is a dual unit (upper = cooking box, lower = broiler); it uses gas and has an electric starter for the pilot light.

Apparently all new(er) models have a backslash amidst the numbers showing manufacturing date; ours does not - there is not a backslash anywhere. Too, the configuration (grouping) of the numbers on our wall unit -see above- do not seem to conform to any recent standards for identification. When I enter the letters/numbers into "search" for parts on websites, I get the message that there is no such model in their database(s). Most frustrating.

[The metal plate with the serial and model numbers stamped into it is located in the lower left-hand side of the upper space/oven box. It is about 9-inches long and is placed vertical to the oven floor - to the left of the hinge attaching the left bottom of the (upper) door to the unit.]

Any help you could give me in deciphering the numbers so I can order replacement parts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Beth.

- - There is also an "x" stamped into the plate - it is at the far end of the plate, at the further end from the other letters/numbers and the same size as the other letters/numbers. Any 'explanation' for it has long since been scrubbed away, so I've no idea what it might mean. Any idea? - -

I have the same problem finding parts in database with my Tappan oven that starts with the same numbers as does yours.

My burners do not ignite and I'm trying to find a manual and or thermostat. Maybe we can get some answers?

That's going on 55 years old. Probably no parts available for that anymore. If you can come up with a part #, you might get lucky doing a google search for that part #.

Desperately searching for User Manual for Tappan Wall Oven Model 12-4990-00-04.

Hello Owner, thank you for your inquiry!
I understand that you need the use and care manual for your Tappan wall oven, 12-4990-00-04. If the model is older than ten years old manufacturers will not keep that information available. You might be able to perform a search for antique models online for any additional information. -Matt

Seal on Tappan wall oven came off, what to do?

Hey friend, I appreciate your post!
I understand that seal on your Tappan wall oven has come off. In order to provide you additional information regarding the seal I would need your model number and serial number. You can locate the serial tag (which has your model number listed) on the front of the oven on the left side. With that information I could provide you additional assistance. I look forward to your response. -Matt

take a look at this site it'll lead you to ge heating elements
see if there is one that resembles your's.
then call them. they are very helpful and may be able to tell you where the model # is. ask if what you're seeing might fit.

Hello, Can't find model/serial number. Older Tappan custom gas stove. Burners work but oven does not. Told it has electric ignition that could be problem. Where to find it, how to remove, where to get...

Serial number labels are usually located in any one of a number of places -

Under the cooktop in one of the corners
Inside the oven door frame (not on the door)
Behind the bottom drawer pullout on the oven, left hand side
Oven back.

If this unit is anything less than 20 years old, there will be a label somewhere.

Reply back you findings and I can give you more information as to how to repair, and we can identify part numbers. You might also try www.repairclinic.com and see if you can drill down through parts when only knowing the manufacturer.
