According to the Weed Eater Instriction Manual, page 8:

REPLACE FUEL FILTER: To replace fuel filter, drain unit by
running in dry of fuel, then remove the fuel cap/retainer assembly
from the tank. Pull filter from tank and remove it from the the

SOURCE: ryobi weed eater will only run if i hold the choke down

Mine won't spin up till it is good and warm. Check the end of the fuel line in the gas tank to see if it is clogged or dirty or slimey. Make sure the end has not fallen off.

SOURCE: Adjustment of the gas air mixture on a Ryobi ss30 weed eater

the exhaust screen and filter are not the problem so don`t waste you time and money.
it sounds like a blown seal, or gasket, remove all of the plastic from the engine and look for black soot or gas & oil coming out from one of them.
also make sure that all screws are tight especially on the head.
make sure you also check the seal on the front and back of the crank shaft.

My hand held blower wont spark plug and carb.replaced still wont start

If the plug is wet with fuel and it is firing then pull the muffler and for a struck ring. Struck and bad score cylinders will cause one not to start as you need at least 100 psi of compression to ignite the fuel mix.

These are okay then check the ignition of the flywheel to coil relationship as it could be a sheared flywheel key. Note most 2 cycles are now using cast in key as part of the flywheel itself.

Weed eater fb25 won't start

This blower is fuel sensitive! Gas and oil mixture has to be correct. Too much oil will cause carbon buildup in the cylinder. In my case my blower would not start after several uses this season. I checked EVERYTHING....spark, fuel delivery, air filter.....then checked the flywheel which has no separate key....the key is cast into the flywheel. Read somewhere about the carbon buildup so took the cylinder off and viola! The piston ring was firmly stuck in the piston groove plus the cylinder was carbon scored. I tried to gently pry the piston ring free but it was so firmly stuck, it broke. Not worth fixing. Take the muffler off and you will be able to see the piston ring....use a small pick or something to see if the ring is free. If not, proceed to tear down or throw out. I was able to see scoring on the piston and determine my ring was stuck this way. Remember the elements needed for successful ignition...fuel/air...spark....compression. Stuck ring = low compression. The last time you ran the blower the ring became stuck...the engine continued to run because of the engine rpm's but when you try to start at low RPM's, no luck.
