The damage is to the board and will need to be replaced.
you can try and locate the blown section with a magnifying glass.

No power my wife plugged in the lead for the laptop by mistake since then no power is there an internal fuse ?

Possible that the power supply is damaged, there is a fuse link but you must be lucky to have it blown before any damage is done. So you need to open the set to confirm, attempt to open the panel and check on the power supply only if you are equipped.

Hello ? !!

umm you either fried your battery, the power supply blew, or theres a fuse in it that blew for protection. first thing i would try is take the battery out and try plugging it directly into the wall, if it turns back on then your battery is shot,if not the power supply within the camcorder blew which could be a small transister or diode and would have to be replaced,or could be a small fuse that went pop within the camera. http://www.sony.co.uk/product/sdh-digital-8/dcr-trv250e/tab/manual here is the manual if you don't already have it. it may tell you if there is a fuse. either open it up and check the camcorder power supply where you plug in and see if theres any black around anything and if there is then thats what needs to be replaced.or if you dont think you can do that then take it in to the repair shop for servicing.

When I turn on my camera nothing appears on the screen and the "access/charge" light flashes rapidly. Then, I can't turn it off unless I remove the battery.

Hi there,

Well first of all you can try to reset your camcorder, to rest it just remove the battery for 24 hours and check it again after 24 hours, it will helps you to reset the camera to there default settings.
Please post comments if further you have the same problem.....

Different battery charger used and handycam not working

have you tried removing the battery and if possible plugging the correct power supply directly into the camera, im not sure if you can do so but if you can i would try that if it does turn on and work then you just fried your battery if you are able to do so and it does not turn on i would say you fried the camera and if it is under warranty send it back for repairs.

I dropped my camera and it would't turn on

Hi There, Impact damage could cause all sorts of problems. Some may be minor and some major. Unless your an electronics tech or you feel up to opening the unit, you may not know what your actually looking for. A repair shop might be your best bet. If you do open the unit, check for broken cct boards, poor connections especially around where the battery terminals are or where the external power supply plugs in?
Good luck, mr cicmo

HOW DO I SET DATE & TIME-ALSO GO FROM SP TO SLP

There is a built-in rechargeable battery in the camera and after approx 3 months it will be completely discharged if the camcorder is not used. To recharge: Connect camcorder to wall outlet using the supplied AC Adapter with the power switch turned OFF for more than 24 hours. (To keep the internal batter charged, try to plug the camera in every couple of months or attach a fully charged external battery for at least 24hrs). To set the clock: Set the power switch to CAMERA and then press MENU. Turn the dial to select CLOCK SET, scroll to the toolbox looking icon -it may say DEMO MODE next to it. Then press the dial. Turn the dial to select the desired year, month, day and then pressing the dial to set each as you go. For the tape speed go to Menu settings scroll to find Tape settings (TAPE SET), select REC MODE and from there you can change the tape speed from SP to LP. Hope this helps. I have the Sony Digital 8 Handycam DCR-TRV250 I purchased about 3 or 4 years ago (700x digital zoom etc).

Power cord and battery's support NO power to Video Camera

This incident happens often and damages the camcorder's power board. Replacing power board and some adjustment should resolved the problem. Your cost may run from $175-$225 in US for this model. Whenever you are transfering and connecting to pc, it is recommended to connect AC adapter power for this. Do not rely on a charged battery. Good luck.
