Question about Whirlpool GW395 Gas Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Whirlpool gas range after replacing the control board and thermastat still has blank panel.

Yes power to stove, cook top ignites and works fine. The panel went blank during a self clean mode. Yes I heard it is actually called the self ddestruct mode, so won't use it again. But need to get oven operational. Replaced control panel or board, replaced the high temp thermo. still no apparent power to the board.

You probably have a bad safety thermostat. Check it for continuity. Here is a diagram of it's location. It is number 37 on the diagram. Here is the part to order if you find it bad.

SOURCE: Range goes into lock out mode

I have experienced this with a Maytag model before. What I was told by the technical assistance folks, is that fluctuations in power coming from the line voltage being fed into the home, electrical storms, or even ham radio (high power RF) operating in the area, can cause some electronics to appear to have problems when they don't. The theory is that these circuit boards are so sensitive that even the slightest noise or interference on the line voltage coming in can cause the board to go into a lock out mode. I was able to clear the problem I had by resetting the computer. There is an actual procedure for this if you haven't figured that out already. If you haven't figured out how to reset the unit, you may need to call the technical support department for your model to see if they can provide you with better answers. I hope this sheds some light on this problem for you.

SOURCE: Whirlpool electric range model # RF261PXSQ oven not heating

I'm afraid you may have a blown Electronic Oven Control (EOC) board. The EOC controls all the functions of the oven. The surface elements are controlled by individual infinite switches behind each control knob.. That's why the surface elements all work, but the oven does not. A replacement EOC can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your COMPLETE model number and you will find it under the "Control Panel Parts" heading as item number 12. There are several listed, based upon the color you need (White, Biscuit, and Black). This is a very simple repair that any do-it-yourselfer can accomplish if you wish to perform this on your own. All you have to do is UNPLUG the appliance and remove the back panel of the console to access.

Before assuming the EOC is defective, however, inspect the board to see if it has a fuse on it. I do not have a wiring diagram to confirm. Some of these boards do have fuses and that's all that it may take to repair it. However, if the board shows signs of burned components, replace it. NOTE: Check for any loose connectors to the board as well.

I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you have questions and/or require additional assistance.

I have the same problem intermittently on my Super Cap 465. After reading the following quote from another site, "There have been cases where radio waves, electronic signals and sometimes something as strange as dimmers in lights have caused some weird problems with some computer panels in stoves like these", I tried turning off lights that might be on the same circuit and wouldn't you know it, the oven igniter circuit worked.

I have a whirlpool range rf263lxtq the oven stays consent on what is wrong with it

Oven clicks as if it is relighting almost constantly.

· Old electric range ovens use a coil heating element called a resistive coil.
This is nothing more than an electrical wire encased in a sheath. They have flat black coils over rounded burner drip bowls that catch your drips and spills.
· The newer glass-ceramic cook top style element produces heat that radiates through the glass top to the cookware above.
· Gas ovens / stovetop that use gas and not electricity. These work by igniting gas and use actual flame on the the stovetop.
· Newest cook top styles, such as the induction or halogen cook tops combine the same style to produce more even heating. Some of these ovens feature thermal limiters or thermostats that regulate the burner system. GAS OVENS 1)The spark igniter tip is dirty (can clean it with either a little wire brush or a piece of fine sandpaper).

2) The Pilot flame is too low, and the tip of the igniter is not in the flame good enough. (the flame acts as a circuit when it touches the tip & completes the circuit).

3) The spark module is no good and needs to be replaced.(But 1 & 2 are your best bet).
spark module does not sense the flame when it's on. The spark igniter is also the flame sensor which provides feedback to the spark module.

Make sure the igniter is properly aligned with the burner lighting holes and it is clean. All lighting holes must be clean too. You can enlarge them using a drill bit one size bigger.

If it would not fix the problem, replace the bake burner and the igniter.

There is a small chance for the spark module itself to be bad as well.
ELECTRIC OVENS:

CHECK THE OVEN RELAY CONTROL BOARD Aclicking sound could be something wrong with a relay. Check for any loose connections around the main control board on your oven. The click you hear is a relay losing power and switching back on. If the clock resets then something is causing power interruptions to the board.

JGBS20BEW2AD, the stove top four cooking burner constantly clicks.

The igniter switch(s) has most likely failed shorted. Fairly common with gas ranges with spark ignition.

Gas range won't ignite. We had PGE and come over

This sounds like a failed burner igniter, also called a spark module. These are pretty easy to replace since the module itself is located at the back of the stove under an access panel. The price is around 40 to 60 dollars. Lately it seems that these newer stoves have weaker spark modules. I see dead modules on models less than 2 years old, where it used to be more like 5 or more years on the older ones.

Whirlpool oven: oven bulb popped and oven wont work. I already replaced the bulb. Does it have a reset switch? The stove top still works fine. The gas wont come on in the oven so that I could manually...

Sounds like you have an open cicuit in the oven power. The control for the gas uses the impedance of the hot surface igniter. Check for a circuit breaker. The wiring diagram should be inside the control panel cover.

Kenmore gas Range -- Control Panel not working

Hi. your assessment is correct. when you have normal operations with the stove top and the control panel is blank or non operational, this will confirm either a wiring harness issue or a dead control circuit board. The wiring harness can sometimes become lose or the connectors can become corroded but, in this issue, i am sure its the ECB(electroninc control board). In this case, you will have to replace the board it self.

Please rate and god bless:)
