Loose gasket in ge dishwasher gldt696tss

The black rubber gasket around the door of my GE GLDT696TSS dishwasher has come loose and pulls out of the channel it normally sits in. How do I get it to stay in? It does not seem to be stiff or worn out, but it won't stay in the channel, so I have to tuck it back in each time.

You have it on backwards. Flip the seal around 180 degrees. Make sure to get the edges on the bottom of the door even, so that they will seal properly. Otherwise water may leak from the bottom of the door.

SOURCE: Drain stays open after start

Looks like a pressure switch problem. Refer part 26 in this diagram. The drain pump operates instead of the wash pump.

I have a GE dishwasher model number GLDT696TSS. I does not turn on. No lights on the panel. Tried various outlets. Any suggestion?

The control panel is defective, it is about a $200-$300 (USD) repair, so weigh you options new or repair.

Ge dishwasher gldt696tss-00 green power light only.

Get enough water out of it to allow the float to go down so you can restart at the beginning of cycle is what I would try.

Will not change cycles

Try this: http://www.manualslib.com/
Look for troubleshooting.
How old? Warranty? Could be switch or timer. Probably need Appliance service. Ask for an estimate first. Lightly used replacement may be less than a repair.

I have GE GLDT696TSS. The dishes are not clean and one time noticed water leak from the back of the washer.

You should check the water outlet - probably discharges into your sink through a garbage disposal - the water outlet is likely plugged and water can not discharge down the sink. You can remove the hose and clean it out.

Dishwasher seal issue

I use ge silicone clear sealant it is flexible adhesie that can handle water and heat

You can get this at Ace or big box stores you do not need a big tube

FIX:

1 Open dishwasher door

2 gently pull rubber seal away from dishwasher guide You do not have to remove the entire seal unless it is loose just keep pulling until you feel the seal staying on dishwasher

3 put a small amount of clear sealant on loose seal(side facing housing) and small amount on dishwasher guide ( dip your finger into water so that it does not stick to your finger)

4 press the seal into place on dishwasher housing

5 wipe excess with a damp cloth be sure you do not get any on seal side that faces dishwasher door

6 Allow to dry over night

Good Luck

How to change a GE dishwasher door seal

I had the same exact problem TWICE....second time I'm replacing the dishwasher. There are two rubber boots at the bottom of the door that just sit and the door seal is supposed to seat into these rubber boots but if you take out the boot you will see that it is misshapen and therefore leaking. These boots cost about $10 dollars apiece from GE on line. I replaced them once and same problem. I was going to replace the gasket that runs around the door but it costs $50 and I'm not SURE it will fix the problem. I'm on my way right now to buy a new dishwasher....they're not that expensive compared to pumping money into something that you don't know if it will work. Good Luck.
