I purchased Norton antivirus for mac and installed it. When I went to register it I was instructed to open the symantec solutions folder and then double click on Register your software...the problem is that the file came up in French not English. I also wanted to know if you have to have 2009 because the store sold me one that has 2007 copyright on the disk.

Hi ,Unfortunately it is not possible to change language option in Norton Antivirus interface. If you have no idea of the language, you can switch between two 90 days English OEM installer to get the free subscription without limits.

Reinstall the program again but make sure English is chosen as the language. Sounds like the language got dropped down by one. They're so close alphabetically they're probably right next to each other.
As for the copyright, no need to worry. You actually buy a year's worth of protection from them not their 2007 protection.

How do I install Norton Secuity on a second computer


Go here http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Norton-AntiVirus-Final.shtml
and download (as in Save, not Run) the installer. Once the download has completed move that file to a USB stick and plug the stick in the other pc (you shouldn't connect to the internet in any way a pc without an antivirus). Launch the installer and follow the procedure. When asked for a key give it the one you have. Once all it's done connect the pc to the internet and update Norton.

My computer say that symantec framework has stopped working and the disk drawer keeps opening and closing. help please


Need to reinstall Norton program manually
1. remove the Norton program with Norton removal tool (www.norotn.com/nrt)
2. clear temp and prefetch ( to clear temp type %temp% in run and to clear prefetch type prefetch in run and delete all files)
3. restart the system
4. clear all the Norton files from registry
5. clear Norton or symantec folder from application data
6. install Norton program

If you get the same issue after we reinstall manually you need to create one administrator account and install Norton program

To run the Microsoft Windows Installer if Norton AntiVirus was installed from the CD
  1. Insert the Norton AntiVirus CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • If the installation program appears, then click Browse the CD
    • If the installation program does not appear, then double-click the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop, and then double-click the CD-ROM drive icon.
  3. Double-click the MSI folder.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • In Windows 98/Me, double-click the WIN9x folder.
    • In Windows 2000/XP, double-click the WINNT folder.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • In Windows 98/Me, double-click the Instmsi.exe file.
    • In Windows 2000/XP, double-click Instmsiw.exe if you have Windows 2000/XP.
  6. In the next dialog box, click Yes.
  7. After the rollback has finished, then reinstall Norton AntiVirus.
    Follow the instruction in Reinstalling your Symantec program after a failed installation or after you see error messages to start the computer without any programs running on startup and then reinstall your Norton program.

    • In Windows 98/Me, double-click Instmsi.exe.

I changed my mother board & now my antivirus is not working


Hi there. The first thing you should do, is completely remove Norton Antivirus from your system, using the Norton Removal Tool from Symantec.

You can download it from their website here:

You will need to write down your product key. If you follow the instructions on the above link, it will tell you where to find it.

Once you have removed Norton, restart your system and re-install Norton. This should solve the problem.

Noton remove


actually your old pc still connect to norton via internet and finds that the lisence is used somewhere else. earlier it was ragistared on that pc so will not accept on new pc. I have two solutions for you.
1. go to run(windows key+r)>type regedit and enter, now hk-local-machine and then software and you will see norton entry there, remove the whole folder from there and restart(this is on old pc) and then try on new pc.
2. contact norton customer care and inform them about the situation, they wil definitly help you.
