Question about Singer 7258 Sewing Machine

1 Answer

Singer 7258 will not sew automatic buttonholes. The needle goes up and down, but that's all. The buttonhole lever is down, so that's not it. Please help.

If the sewing machine is set on the buttonhole setting then it's
possible that the sewing machine motherboard has a problem.
or a part could be damaged, the machine may need some type
of adjustment.

SOURCE: singer 7436 buttonhole problem

Hello,

I have found that the problem lies with the button hole pull down. Either it is too far down, or too far up. The problem that I have with it now is that it will never sew the button holes consistantly. I will set it where the button hole needs to be, and it will then proceed to place it where it wants to. Any help on this problem?

generally most sewing problems are due to sticking parts because of non usage as =you have stated or because the tension has been not set right. what I suggest is that you take the time to do some cleaning of the machine like what bis pointed out in your manual use a light weight mineral oil to wipe the moving parts with, but not too much. also adjust the tension of the foot so there is pressure on the material as to move it while sewing. after all the cleaning and adjusting rethread the bobbin and make sure it is seated properly also rethread the need and make sure the thread moves freely from the spool. this should do the trick. please rate this

Yes, If you have a zigzag function use that. First you must keep the zigzag function stationary then set it to about a one or two on the stitch dial. Try that!

Also make sure that you pulled the buttonholer lever down and pushed it back (it's on the left side of the presser foot) ... the machine won't make the forward and backward motions to form the buttonhole without it.

How can I make buttonholes on this machine?

In addition to using the attachment, there are several other steps that have to be made on your machine. For instance, on some you have to pull down a lever; on others you have to set a dial, and sometimes you have to do both. That's why your attachment alone is not working; it's designed to work WITH other settings. You can get a free user's manual at http://www.manualowl.com/p/Singer/7258-Stylist/Manual/179354, and for heaven's sake, use it as your bible!

I have a 9960 singer machine and am trying to use the buttonhole presser foot for the first time and I can not get it to sew T

the buttonhole foot snaps on to the presser bar, there's a little lever at the back of the presser bar that releases the foot, then put the buttonhole foot down on the needle plate & use the presser foot lifter (number 11) to lower the presser bar down onto the buttonhole foot & you'll hear a click sound when it snaps on & make sure to use the buttonhole lever(number 31) because the machine won't sew a buttonhole unless that lever is pulled down.

Buttonhole Foot Not Feeding the Fabric

have you checked the needle to see if it may be bent or damaged
try rolling it on a flat surface
have you also cleaned under the needle plate area where the feed dogs
are, for lint or loose threads
on electronic sewing machine when doing the buttonhole,,the buttonhole lever has to be pulled down before the machine will make a buttonhole, I know mine will not make a buttonhole unless the lever is pulled down .

My Singer 2950 buttonhol-er stitches only one side of the buttonhole. It does not reverse and finish the buttonhole. What to do??

Have you pulled down the buttonhole trigger lever at the back of the sewing area? most modern machines have one of these - when you use it with the button hole foot, you'll see the foot has a little piece that sticks out and triggers the lever to begin stitching the reverse bead and bar tack of the buttonhole.

I have a Singer model 9910 and am not able to make a buttonhole on the setting for #61. The buttonhole seems to be inserted properly and the foot is lowered but the machine just beeps and will not sew.

Re your buttonhole foot - please note the following:

- This foot comes with a metal underplate.

- Place the fabric between the foot and the underplate.

- I am assuming that you have the buttonhole lever pulled down.

-Note: The silver coloured buttonhole lever is directly behind the needle threader. Pull it all the way down.

-When u have all the above in place, start the buttonhole. When it finishes the first side, gently push the foot back, so it reverses. I know this sounds strange, but if you have slightly bent the underplate you will need to do this.

- The directions are in the manual on page 60.

One step button Hole V for Singer Sewing Machine

Hi, I had the same problem, but I finally found my manual. The solution is that you have to use the presser foot for buttonholes but the most important part is that you have to lower the buttonholer lever. It is located right next to the needle to the left. It is a metal lever with a little square white plastic end. You need to pull that down in order the the buttonhole feature to work. My button was too big for the buttonhole presser foot, so I had to use the regular presser foot, but hit the buttonhole lever with my had to make it go up or down.
