More than likely what is happening is that there is an accumulation of rust and water deposit that formed on the bottom of the water heater tank and this is inhibiting the transfer of heat from the to the water.

There should be a drain on the bottom of your water heater that you should regularly drain the water from it. This should be done every couple of years to prevent such problems.

Turn off your water heater temporarily, attach the end of a hose to the bottom drain and run the other end to a floor drain or nearby slop sink. Open the drain valve to help try and flush a lot of that sediment out from the bottom. Don't be alarmed if the water looks rusty or grainy, this is normal wear and tear for a water heater.

See if this helps and if not then it is probably time for a new water heater.

Sounds like thermostat but element can be checked with a multi-meter, turn power off at fuse panel, pull one wire of element put multimeter on both screws on element using continuity setting should show continuity or beep as most do if not its burned out and needs to be replaced

SOURCE: warm water only

You can eliminate the shower control knob possibility by turning on your hot water anywhere else in the house. If you get hot water in other places, then it could be the knob causing it. A substantial lime buildup in the tank can also cause poor heat transfer from the elements to the water.

I am looking for magnesium anode rod for an electric Ruud pacemaker 10 gallon water heater model# PEP 10-1 and serial # 0598304245. Do you know the parts number? Bill

no
try contacting the manufacturer for the part or talk with a plumber supplies shop ( where plumbers get their supplies and parts ) to see if it is available
it will be a sacrificial rod to prevent the tank from corroding out especially around the heating element fittings

Richmond 5v40-36f

1) My search does not show that product exists, or existed before the internet.
Maybe that product only exists on fixya.
Or the water heater is older model number from Rheem., aka Richmond, Ruud etc.
Or fixya picked up a model number from a question, and the person asking question did not copy model number correctly from label on side of tank.
It might also be older manufactured home gas water heater.

Ruudglss Pacemaker electric water heater; still produces hot water, but the hot water last (in shower) for a much shorter time. The most likely cause is.?

Suspects include: Sediment in tank, shorting breaker, bad lower element, bad thermostat, water leak causing hot water to run out of tank:

Suspects that are excluded: Tank is not overheating, upper element is good, ECO reset button is not tripped, insulation and thermostat covers are present.
