You need to go in the menue under audio, there should be a prompt for mode, or something like that, should be able to switch between music, movie, sports, and so on, if you cant find in there, look for an audio button on the remote, hit that, see if it has those settings in it

Either the player or the set it is hooked to may have in the audio settings a "Hall" or similar setting--background will be louder than people speaking---its a setting.

I can't hear people talking when i watch a movie?

I had the same problem and found that there was a connection problem with the center speaker. Do a sound check on all speakers and see if the sound is coming out of the center one. If not then just check you have connected it properly.

DVD's music and background but no talking

Try adjusting the sound on the tv. If you go into the "user" audio options you can select between normal and True Surround SXT. That may work. Otherwise, try playing with your dvd player's options. The problem I'm having is the tv plays the sound before the picture.
