Question about HP Pavilion Dv7-1232nr Dv7-1135nr 17.1" Wxga Lcd Screen Complete Lp171wp4
My friends computer stopped working. Lights where blinking. I replace the motherboard (but not the cpu) It is now working but after several minutes in cuts off, with no warning. It is hot on bottom, everything was clean. Can not hear fan so not sure if it is working or not. I did not change anything in bios. I am going to see if I can see fan working or not. Do you think the cpu is bad? or a bad motherboard?
Why replace the most expansive part first?
its overheating. I bet ONLY.
the fan must blow, if its dead fan , it will over heat slow down CPU then will shut down. all PCs do that not cooled properly.
i guess you pulled heatsinks to after all , old CLU still there.
so used top brand Heatsink compound?
if yes, the the heat goes down that heat pipe to the radiator in the fan box, if the fan blows the heat blasts out the vents.
I use SHIN grease
nothing better, 4bucks
cools my hot i7 in my elitebook, very good. tried, many types, nothing beats this.... my other book same is i5 and can use any grease.
see? the i7 runs way faster and way hotter, as all do fast.

Get a program called speedfan and try to install it before it crashes, put it in the refrigerator to extend the run time. Almico.com has the free application speedfan. that program will tell you what the temps are. You could also look at the event viewer logs to see what they say under the system tab. The bios changed when the motherboard changed. However it sounds like an overheating issue. Did you put new heatsink compound on the CPU

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

It is normal for the bottom to get hot. The fan should keep it cool enough to run, but it sounds like perhaps your fan is not working very well anymore and should be replaced.
Does the computer act up at all when cool? If not, the first thing I would try is replacing the fan and examining the fan and heatsink assembly for proper installation, perhaps replace the heatsink compound with some Arctic Silver while you have it open.

the simple thing is that are the both system compartible?so if they are not just compartible go to the local pc outlet in your area and get a compartible one better you go with the faulty screen so it could be easily verify.
