I am trying to configure the scanner to send mail . I follow up the instructions in the manual . when I try to test it I got LDAP commutation error and smtp error . how you can I configure Xerox M20i Work Centre to be able to scan to e-mail.
This may be an old topic but M20i will scan via Ethernet. That's why it's called "Scan to E-mail". I would check your LDAP settings and make sure your CN= user container and your DC= entries are correct. You may need to use LDAP on port 636 and if you need authentication, provide a username and password with the appropriate permissions.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

Hi, you can print a configuration page on the M20i by following the steps below:
- Press the Machine Status button
- Select Reports, then press Enter
- Select Connect Page, then press Enter
The configuration page will print out. For configuration page instructions for other copiers or printers, visit the How to print config pages website.
That is not true i work as a IT Spec for the Kentucky Army National Guard and we have over 20 M20I series printers in which we have set up to scan to email. None of these printers are hooked up directly to the computer and they all have the ablity to scan to email. if you printer dose not seem to have the ability they you will probally just need to update the os. Here are the steps to get it set up.
Connect the printer to the network
Print a network config sheet
use IE to connet to the web based interface useing the printers IP
Click on the properties tab
hit the little plus sign by connectivity
do the same with protocols
find and click on smtp server
add ip address in the ip address and if your server requires athenticating type in the user name and password
if for some reason the maxium message size has undefined then you will need to complete reset the printer or you will get an error it needs to have options that can be selected.
now go to services
then email settings
select apropriate modes and the default from address
if you want to set permissions to the device you can do so under user authintcation
you can also set up the LAB and GAB
some web sites may not allow you to suer this function one alternitive is to set up a local smtp server on your network and create a mail box for yourself then you will just need to put your smtp server address in the instructions listed in step 8. I hope this helps.
You need to clean the scanner. You can try doing the shading adjustment to calabrate the scanner but most likely the mirrors are hazed up. Since you can print fine you eliminate the laser.
To do the shading adjustment, you need to press in order,,, Menu # 1934, You will see a " T "on the screen, that will be the tech mode. Press the machine status, then go to maintenance, then scroll to shading. Place 5 sheets of white paper on the glass and then run the shading adjustment. turn the machine off and on, and run copies again. But most likely you will have to take the scanner off and clean it.
If you want to clean the scanner let me know, I will send you directions on how to do that. The mirrors in that scan head tend to haze up.
