Question about Kenmore Dryers
Model # 11050902990 Series # MK 459990. What can I 'check' out myself, before I need to contact a repairman?
Don't do this if you don't know to check electrical components. Check for 220 volts at terminal block where the power cord connects to at the dryer. Check from one outside terminal to the other outside terminal. If you have 220 volts this means the power cord, wall outlet, breakers & main box are good. If you don't have 220 volts check the door switch, push to start switch , ohm the input wire to the output wire on the timer with it set on timed dry if you get 0 or near ohms timer is ok if you get infinity meter don't move you have a bad timer wire colors most likely black input & blue output this is not always true so check your diagram. Hope this will help.

It sounds like your heating element has broken. There are several links provided on this site on how to replace it. You might want to take a look at davesrepair.com to purchase a new one. He has pretty good prices on the element.

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.
For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...
FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.
PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.
If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.
Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.
If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.
Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question#$^&
