I have a USB data cable. But, when I try to sync music to my phone, the computer shows that it isn't connected. The cable is only charging my phone, but not transfering data. I installed a driver, but that didn't help. What am doing wrong?

Hi,you can transfer music to nokia 5800 from your computer(pc or mac).
There are different ways of transferring music.if you have a PC, you can
use PC Suite to transfer music files.the nice software that comes with
the phone. If you have a Mac, you can use Nokia Multimedia Transfer
(free download) and sync it with your iTunes. how to put songs on nokia 5800-nokia pc suite To
transfer music as data files, make the connection with a compatible USB
data cable. You also need to have a compatible memory card inserted in
the device. View your nokia 5800 on a computer as a mass memory device.
follows these steps: firstly, connect nokia 5800 with computer via USB
data cable. then select Mass storage as the connection mode. A
compatible memory card must be inserted in the device. then view the
device from the computer file manager as a mass memory device. now you
can fansfer the music files. after transferring songs, you can close the
connection by remove the USB device safely from your computer.

When u connect to computer by data cable it shows three option, select data transfer option from it to transfer file like videos, music etc.

if u want to display menu option u have to deattach usb data connection
You can use Windows Media Player's "Sync" function to transfer music from your music library to your phone, but you need a data cable to connect the phone to your computer, or you can use a USB memory card reader that allows the computer to see the memory card as if it were another drive. NOTE: The i880 can ONLY play music files in an .mp3 format; if they are in ANY other format, they will not even show up on the song list on the phone.
DO YOU HAVE A MICRO SD CARD? IF U DO PUT IT IN THE PHONE AND USE THE USB CORD TO TRANFER MUSIC USING WMP11 AND SYNC UR MUSIC TO THE DEVICE BUT ALWAYS REFRESH THE DEVICE MAKE SURE U FORMAT THE MEMORY CARD IN THE PHONE KEEP TRYING IT WILL WORK IT DID FOR ME.
There is an option to connect your phone to your
via the USB cable provided out of the box. Once you connect your
cellphone to the computer, it'll pop up a device found wizard and ask
if you want to try to find the drivers for it... all options will fail
BUT, once that is done, keep it connected and flip open your phone. Go to these menu options:
Menu > Tools > Mass Storage > Connect to PC
and it will pop open an explorer window for you to traverse your files.
