I just bought a ne tv set. When I got it all hooked up and turned it on there was a problem. The picture on the set was so blury that I could not see the setup menu. It was the worst picture on a TV that I had seen so bad I cannot even navigate the menus.

Re: Bad tv picture
Could it be that you have setr up the TV set wrongly? Did you check if the antenna cable is fitted properly? the antenna is pointing in the right direction? That there are no obstructions to the antenna, in recieveing a good signal? Did you try using the TV, hooked to a VCR or DVD player? please check all this before blaming the TV.

Re: Bad tv picture
Take the set back and get an exchange or a refund of your money as this could be a focus adjustment, but I do not recomend that you even attempt to try the adjustment, as if you make a mistake, you will be stuck with the set as the manufacturer will blame you for this problem. Good Luck

Fire the TV Tech! Your problem is the adjustment to the color wheel timing. To correct this: With TV OFF -> on remote, press MUTE, 1, 8, 2, POWER. The TV will come up in service mode: ( Left / Right arrow keys for item selection, Up / Down to change values, Menu to return to previous menu, Power to exit Service Mode)
Enter the submenu of item 1. DDP1011. Now, adjust item 4. INDEX DELAY to correct the "clay facing" problem you are having . Default value is 47.
You should have a "problem" image paused to check you work if possible. I hope this was of some assistance, best wishes.
There seems to be two problems with the unit. The first symptom indiates your convergence IC's needs to be replaced. The second symptom coud be a several things, 1. Bad connections on the Crt board of the green tube, 2. The 200v screen bias voltage supplied by the flyback could have bad connections on it. Seems you have intermittent cold solder joints. Check the D board around the Flyback area for bad connections, or old grey looking solder connections all should look shiny. 3. The Green Crt maybe going faulty, the lines going thru the picture are scan lines and indicates that the Screen controls are to high. But i know you have'nt adjusted these so i would suspect the Green Crt is Faulty. But check solutions 1&2 first, One way to find out if its bad is to unplug the green crt board from the tube and turn the set on if it stays on and does'nt shut down then it is faulty, also while turning on look at the crt's neck for sparks which indicates arching in the tupe and will need to be replaced. Replacing the Convergence IC's will solve the distorted pic issue.
In all probability the picture is fuzzy too, its just harder to notice. This can be as simple as an adjustment in the back of the set. Carefully remove the back and look for the flyback transformer (part with large red wire coming out of the top). The should be 1 or 2 controls on it. One should be marked focus. Adjust that to get sharper focus.
yes the convergence Ics are bad you will need to replace both convergence ICs they are STK392-120 and you will also need four 6.8 ohm 1watt resistors. You can get the replacement parts at the following link with free installation instructions with pictures. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
Good DAy, mitas;
It sounds that the TV is having a Convergence Circuit problem or you may CRT Coolant (fluid) on the PCB's. Good Luck, big IRISH........ PS Call for help, by calling a Factory Service Center....get an estimate!!
has the set been knocked or had a bang in any way, these rear projection tvs are very tempermentle to slight knocks, as you can knock the crts out of line, also the crts have a cooling gel that is located on the top of them, these after a while cloud up causing a very poor picture, if this is the case, then they will have to be replaced, just have a quick look at them you will be able to see if its the gel problem, look directly down on the crts (MAKE SURE THE SET IS TURNED OFF THOUGH), hope this is of some assistance.
I Just had the same problem with my Sony KP43HT20, was a blury picture with the red & green going bad.......My set had defective convergence IC's, they are known to go in Sony's..IC's run about $30 a piece.
