Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

Ink cartridge will go dry up if you don't use them. I would try cleaning the head and do some maintence on it. It looks to me that you have to buy a new black cartridge. I went through the same thing on mine.

SOURCE: magenta in tricolor not flowing
unplug printer cables, replug in
take cartridges out, put back in making sure sure nothing is obstructing the ink dispensary on the cartridges and that they're clean
look in the printer where the cartridges go, making sure nothing is blocking the ink
check the rollers to make sure no paper is caught inside the printer
turn on printer and try this
hope this works and good luck

if the ink cartridge is the same ink cartridge since you have pruchased it, it may have run out of ink or the ink cartridge is broken, that is the only two posible reason thats why you always recieve these messages, check can check the ink capacity through the hp utility tools, if the cartridge has run out of ink or it is broken you will need an ink cartridge replacement

I see this type of problem almost every day with these PhotoSmart printers. It is something wrong with the cartridge sensor in the printer. About the only thing you can try that sometimes fixes it is to turn off the printer, then physically unplug it from the wall for at least 2 minutes, then replug it back in.
If it still comes up with the error then unfortunately the printer has effectively died..

Mostly, printer cartridge error occurs when the printer head is unable to identify the cartridge properly. And the basic reason behind this is that the cartridge is improperly attached.
To reattach the cartridge check the following steps :
turn on the lid of the printer and then remove the cartridge from the printer head.
Check the cartridge to make sure that there are no scratches or other damaged parts that can contribute to a printer cartridge error report.
Take note that the cartridge should not be left open for more than 30 minutes; otherwise the ink will start to dry up and the cartridge will get clogged.
