There might be some loose solder terminals at its main power regulator board.

I had the same problem with my palsonic. Watching netflix via a smart media player and also watching videos through my laptop. I found it would always turn off at the exact same part of the videos so it's not completely random. Any ideas on what this could be?

SOURCE: TV turns off and then on again every five to ten minutes!

Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. It's possible that it maybe a bad capacitor or transformer on the power supply board. But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptoms.

You have a few choices:

1. You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 - 45 minutes so the TV can discharge and reset itself.
2. If by chance the TV is still under warranty by extended plan, go that route.

3. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you red light blinking codes, circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.

4. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

I have a palsonic model no: TFTV492LED and I can't change it off AV1. I want to put it on HDMI I have no remote either.

Try the front panel button labeled Source; it's the second button from the left. (The first button is the Power button.) All of the buttons are on the right hand side of the bottom frame of the TV. Use the Channel Up/Down arrows to navigate through the list of inputs. Try waiting for the selection to take effect. (The documentation says press OK or the Volume Up button. Sometimes, the Source button on the TV functions as an OK button. This isn't clearly identified for the Palsonic.)

If the HDMI input is greyed out, the TV may not be seeing a compatible signal from the source. Try turning on the device when the TV is off, then turn on the TV. I'm not sure if this TV will correctly see the signal from a computer. However, on some laptops, you'll need to enable the external video first. This is disabled to save power. Then turn off the computer. Finally, turn on the TV before turning the computer back on.

Palsonic has the manual available for the TFTV492LED on the product (discontinued) site under the Downloads tab. See http://palsonic.com.au/archive/led-tv/tftv492led.htm . The direct link to the manual is http://palsonic.com.au/customer_service/led-instruct/Palsonic_TFTV492LED_Manual.pdf .

I hope this helps.

When I try to retune TV to pick up new TV stations I get sound OK but a black screen with message invalid format.

Check stations MPEG format . Check if it is MPEG4 and check if TV can decode MPEG4 . A firmware update may be available on tv and may fix it but it has the risk of turning the tv into a brick if something goes wrong during a firmware update.
suggest contacting palsonic to see if firmware possible and which one to use.

When u turn the TV off it keeps coming back on by itself

Ours does the same thing except that it will turn on spontaneously at any hour of the day or night randomly. I called Sharp tech support and they rebooted the tv and the remote but this did no good. I sprayed compressed air into the power switch on the top of the tv, but this did not help either. Sorry I have no answer. Since it is in the bedroom this was driving us crazy, so I junked the tv and replaced it with a Sceptre 32 LCD HD TV/DV combo from Walmart.com for less than $200. Probably taking the tv to a repair center would cost almost as much.

We have a Toshiba Model 37LX96 LCD/DVD Combo Can't turn on, after a recent power outage There is power going to the unit, but it will not turn on using the remote or using the "power"...

Common problem with the main board. Only happens after losing main power, not just turning the TV off.
I found that blowing hot air with a heat gun down the vents above the DVD player (don't melt the plastic housing) will warm the main board up enough to get the TV powered up again.
You'll be good to go until the next power outage then back to the heat gun.
Also the spec sheet indicates max humidity at 80% so keep the TV in a space with lower humidity.
The Toshiba 37LX96 is a quality TV, not a throw away if you can keep it running.
