Question about Computers & Internet
You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program. Click on one of these links to download HIREN'S BOOTCD :- http://www.hirensbootcd.net/ http://126.96.36.199/

New users get to try the service completely Free afterwhich it costs $6 per call and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

SOURCE: Password Bios Losse
If you are the rightful owner dell will help you reset this.
but it will take some time.
you will have to remove the cmos battery (looks like a coin) under the keyboard and main battery
wait a few mins and try again.
if that does not work then only some techs knows what chip to short to clear.

If the issue is no sound after reinstallation of Windows, then your issue is most likely a driver issue. Many items in the system will function with native windows drivers but the audio on a I6400 is not one of them. Installation of drivers in the correct order is critical to Dell portables functioning correctly. Correct driver order is:
Notebook System Software.
All other applications and drivers (MS Office, Printer driver etc)
This system is also equipped with Media Direct capability. For Media Direct to function, the system's HDD must be prepared using the Media Direct installation CD, then WIndows installed, then the Media Direct application. If you have no plans to use media direct, this can be skipped (Most people do)

you should have a key on keyboard in lower left corner by windows key that says"FN" then hit "F2" that should do it, if that is not the case then there should be a switch along the edge of machine
