Re: my tv will not turn on
Your tv set is in auto protection mode.
sum times its due to a power line falur or a power surge to the set and other times its due to parts failing inside the set.
depending on the age of the tv, you might want a repairment to take a look at it.

Sounds like your power supply is causing the problem. Unplug the TV wait 10 minutes, look in the back for a red button (circuit breaker) push it in. If this does not work you have a low voltage power supply fault.
From your description it sounds like you TV is experiencing a shut down and re-set condition. This is usually caused by some type of voltage irregularity in the power supply section of the TV. Unfortunately, this is not an easy fix and will require a trip to the shop. Get an estimate before approving repair. In the new world of disposable electronics the cost of repair may exceed the value of the set. Keep in mind that TV components are most prone to failure during the electrical surge when you turn the TV on. So constantly pushing the on button will accelerate a permanent failure.
hello..i think you have very big problems inside on you're TV you need a Electronics Technician to see inside the real problem.my tips is located in Power Supply Regulator..Can i know what kind TV Model???thanks
The set is in protective shutdown because a problem was detected. The 5 blink code indicates that the problem circuit. In this case it is the blanking circuit. Were there any indications of problems prior to the storm? If not, I'll need to lok up this one for the specifics. Do you intend to repair this yourself?
Let me know and I'll provide the details.
I had the same problem and took it apart. Before the repair there was no "click" when I pushed the button, a clue to the problem. The on-off button on the front pushes a weakly made angle piece of plastic inside which had broken. The plastic piece in turn is supposed to push an internal switch which is offset to one side.
I used epoxy (Araldite) to repair the broken plastic angle piece, but it still looks weak to me so I switch the tv off at the wall and leave the on-off button alone (though it does work now).
Opening the case requires some knowledge and care, and can be dangerous. It may void the warranty so be careful or give it to a qualified repair person.
Yeppers ,This is how they go out. All of a suddenly and sometimes while your watching it. Right in the middle of a good movie too!!. Your problem could be anything from the horizontal drive circuit or power supply problem If your not experienced with solid state repair then you should get a tech to assist you with this repair as there are no user serviceable parts inside this set and could be very dangerous if you dont know the safty issues concerning the HI VOILTAGE. Good Luck
