You have to set the Source to L3 (DV) with teh Source button on the remote.
To FORMAT a new RW disc, the unit must be on L3 before inserting the disc cuz the Format happens immediately and is very quick on a +RW, slower on a -RW, but it happens right away. You could insert a RW disc and not realize it hadn't been Formatted for 1st use, after which it doesn't need formatting again.
You can Finalize with the unit NOT on L3 first cuz that op is not automatic... you still have to select Finalize from the Disc Edit menu.

I don't know what means error E22 but if you start experience frequently the record errore your burner is failing. Check connections in your computer, specially the data cable if you are using SATA. Use cables with a "clip" so your connection should not get loose.
If everyting is right and you still can't finalize correctly your recording, change your DVD burner
1 Open the DVD creation software of your choice. Exact steps will vary based on the software you choose. Nero and Sonic are two popular choices.
2 Create a new DVD project or open an existing project. You will need a blank DVD or an un-finalized DVD with an existing project on it in your DVD burner.
3 Add any files to your project. All programs have an "Add Files" and "Browse" button in order to add files. To remove any files, select the files in the list and press "Delete." Be sure your project is exactly like you want it before proceeding.
4 Press "Burn" to burn you project or changes to DVD.
5 Press "Finalize" or "Finalize Project" when prompted. There will be a prompt after the burn process has completed. If you don't see a prompt, look at the options menu that is to the left or top of the screen. Select "Finalize" or run your mouse over the toolbar buttons until you find the "Finalize" button. Select or press "Finalize" to finalize your DVD project. Select "Ok" or "Yes" to confirm.
6 Eject your DVD and test it in a regular DVD player. A regular DVD player is one that doesn't burn DVDs and is more than likely a portable DVD player or one that is connected to your television.
Chances are the disk is not finalized. dvd+r and dvd+rw need to be finalized before they can be viewed on any other player than the one they were made on. If you have the instructions to the burner, then it should be easy to learn how to finalize the disc. If not, I would suggest googling the burner and find online instructions.
If you are using Nero, just put in your unfinalised dvd. open nero and select the "Burn" tab from the options. Now click on the "Finalise DVD" checkbox. Now click on Burn, and it will finalise the dvd. There is a corresponding Tab on most recording programs. You really need to get another, better, burner than EZ.I nearly always use UltraISO, it has a built in burner, based on Nero, and just works.Another one is CopytoDVD... it is great. Also I find it is better to NOT use those horrid re-recordable discs.
while u were burnin the disc which format of disc u selected.......if u selected data disc then some of the dvd players will not read those dvds..............u should not select data disc .................instead there r some options to burn the disc....it depends on which version of nero or the cd burner product u use
On PC or stand alone DVD burner?
On PC tell burning application to finalize because you most probably are burning multi-session DVD's now and not all DVD players old type accept unfinalized discs.
On standalone: go with remote to menu item where to finalize that multisession DVD (these units always make default because of design multi-session discs)
put recorded disc in tray and let load
press setup on remote
use the arrow keys to the right of the setup button
press right arrow to highlight disc setup (on screen display)
use up down keys to scroll down to finalize disc
right left arrows for yes no
highlite yes then enter
disc will burn
Put the DVD back into the drive...Then open the DVD menu by selecting the first tittle on the disc....Hold down the up arrow on the remote to make the "Editing menu" appear....Then select "Finalize Disc".
These instructions can be found on page 54 of the instruction book.
