Camera shuts off when shutter button is pressed.

I'd try replacing the battery first. It is common for a low power battery to not allow the camera's computer to read what it is supposed to do correctly. If the new fully charged battery doesn't fix it, I'd then contact customer service.

My aperture or lens isn't opening - can't take a picture. It worked fine a couple of weeks ago and when I tried to use it this week it was a no go.

Aperture and lens are two different things. If you mean the camera is taking black pictures (something common for the S5), then see this link.

But if you mean that the lens isn't extending properly, then see this video:

Hi,

Do you use of a memory stick plus the central memory of divice ?

If yes . please move it out and pay attention to close the device door completly.

now try to take a picture and see the result .

If the problem solve , your memory stick may be infected by virus and must be scaned by

antivirus through ram reader by pc.

good luck

Flash not working

Hi there and welcome to FixYa.

Bad batteries can cause that. The flash module needs alot of power to charge. Your camera will still work, but without enough power to charge the flash module, it may take along time. Again.
Try fresh batteries.

I'd say definitely a card problem.

It's also best to use cards with high speed data transfer in this camera.

Especially when travelling, it's best to carry a few cards, not only for storage capacity, but as back-up in case a card develops a fault. If you rely on only one card and it fails.... you may lose all your pics, so carry a few spares... same with batteries.. and ALWAYS use lithium batts in ANY Kodak camera... they have huge problems with alkalines.

Hope this helps... happy shooting and enjoy your trip.
