Hello! I'm trying to fit a new stereo to a 307cc (a Pioneer DEH-50UB) using the PC2-86-4 harness adaptor, but I'm a bit confused about the 2 extra red and pink wire's on the adaptor. What wire's do they...

I went to Halfords and asked someone!..
The pink wire has no use and doesn't need connecting to anything.
The red wire need's to connect to a temporary power source (the cigarette lighter) via scotch lock connection. Only problem there was having to take most of the centre console apart which was a bit fiddly but on the whole not to bad.
Start to finish the job took about 40 minutes.

Not working error 50 and 70

Clean the unit if possible. does the cartridge eject? if so, load it with a cd player cleaner, preferrably one that uses a cleaning solution. put it in tray slot 1. load and wait. try this a few times then try a good disc, one that is not scratched up. changers are hard on cd's. If it's still not working, below the cartridge slot there should be an inverted dimple that you can press with a ball point pen. This is a reset. It should have this button, I just can't remember the exact location if it's not right there. Hope this helps. If you have a spare cartridge try that as well, as they warp.

Pioneer DEH-50UB

Hi again,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

Let's try a process of elimination based on:
  • the Pioneer DEH-50UB is working OK other than it displays error communicating with the iPod at certain times (intermittent);
  • the iPod when played alone/by itself does not exhibit any freezing/hanging problems;
  • the iPod to DEH-50UB connector/cable CD-IU50 is in good working order since if it is not, then the iPod would not even be heard on the Pioneer;
  • the Pioneer's wiring are OK otherwise it would not be working.
Which leaves us the possibilities of:
  • corroded/dirty USB port/interface on the Pioneer DEH-50UB;
  • loose USB port on the DEH-50UB;
  • loose or corroded terminals on the CD-IU50;
  • corroded/dirty contacts on the iPod;
  • RF interference from communications equipment such as CB radios, 2mtr Amateur, mobile phones;
  • electrical interference/noise from the vehicle such as horn relay, A/C relay, fan relay, alternator;
  • electronic noise from navigation/GPS mobile equipment;
  • keyless/remote alarm/security system.
Additional actions that could be explored/done:
  • installation of choke/filter capacitor along the red & yellow wiring of the DEH-50UB;
  • additional grounding/groundstrap of the DEH-50UB to the chassis/metal/body of the vehicle.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
